Used Renault Kadjar for sale

Launched in 2015, the Kadjar is the mid-sized offering for those looking at the Renault SUV range, with the Captur sitting just below it in terms of size, and the Koleos sitting just above.

Sharing bits and bobs with the award-wining Nissan Qashqai - as part of the Renault/Nissan alliance, you'd expect the Renault Kadjar to be pretty good, and you'd be right.

Models offer:

  • Typical Renault style
  • Decent practicality
  • Good comfort
  • Understated appeal

Read on below to find out if the Renault Kadjar could be the perfect used family SUV that you and your family are looking for.

Engines and Driving Experience

Renault Kadjar Driving

You can choose between two 1.3-litre petrol engines; a 138bhp version, or more potent 157bhp offering. There is also a 1.2-litre petrol with 128bhp which is a tad slower, but does offer slightly better economy with up to 50mpg possible.

There is also a slightly more economical set of diesel engines too, with a 1.5-litre 113bhp engine and a 1.7-litre 147bhp engine. All are front-wheel drive, so it will really come down to personal preference. If you are after an all-wheel drive Renault SUV, the larger Koleos offers this possibility.

On the whole, the Kadjar drives well and offers good refinement for family life. Body lean is kept at bay despite this being a tall SUV, and steering is precise, and you therefore get a lot of confidence from the feedback the Kadjar gives.

Practicality and Running Costs

Renault Kadjar Boot Space

Despite the Kadjar sharing its chassis with the aforementioned, ultra-popular Nissan Qashqai, it's actually the Kadjar that offers buyers more boot space.

You get a capacious 472 litres of space, meaning you get 42 litres more than the Nissan. Although the also hugely popular Kia Sportage trumps them both by offering 503 litres of standard boot space. If you drop the seats in the Kadjar, you get 1,478 litres of total space, whilst the Qashqai then claws back extra space, offering 1,585 litres.

As for running costs, this is what makes family SUVs popular as they are more than reasonable to run, with servicing readily available through any Evans Halshaw Renault dealer.

Interior, Technology and Safety

Renault Kadjar Interior

The interior of the Kadjar is decent and can withstand everyday family life with ease. Trim-levels are well-equipped and even as standard you get features such as Bluetooth, DAB, and dual-zone air-con. Iconic trim levels receive the more impressive toys such as sat-nav, reverse camera and keyless entry.

Instrument displays feature smart digital displays, along with the dash getting a nice infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

Being a family SUV, safety is of huge importance. Therefore, it's great to know that the Kadjar was awarded a full five-star score from Euro NCAP, thanks to features such as:

  • Six airbags (standard)
  • Cruise control (standard)
  • Lane departure warning
  • Auto headlights
  • Hill-start assist (standard)
  • Traffic-sign recognition
  • Auto park assist
  • Autonomous Emergency Braking (Top spec GT Line models)

Is the Renault Kadjar right for me?

If you want a family SUV that offers a nice selection of model options, and scores top marks for safety, you can't go wrong with a Renault Kadjar.

Sharing many similarities and traits with the Nissan Qashqai is no bad thing, and the Kadjar is perhaps the more subtle of the two and in some respects, the more mature and understated version.

In such a strong market, the likes of the Kia Sportage and ultra-stylish Peugeot 3008 will do their best to tempt you their way, but if you are more about understated excellence, the Kadjar could be the one for you and your family.
