Used Kia Venga For Sale

The Kia Venga is a versatile multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) that was in production between 2010 and 2019, meaning there are plenty of examples to choose from.

If you're in the market for a spacious family car, but you don't need something too big, then the Venga makes for a great choice because it bridges the gap between hatchbacks and SUVs.

The Venga represented great value when it was new, which has carried into the used car market. Better yet, if you go for a model that was released towards the end of the Venga's production, you'll benefit from Kia's 7-year warranty.

Here's an overview of what makes the Venga an excellent MPV:

  • Loads of space inside
  • Great value
  • Affordable to run
  • Comfortable
  • Plenty of safety kit

Engines and Driving Experience

Grey Kia Venga, driving

Although competent on B-roads because of its soft suspension and excellent visibility, the Venga excels in towns, where its compact nature makes for seamless manoeuvres. Thanks to the light steering the Venga is easy to drive in congested areas, plus it makes for a relaxing driving experience when venturing out of town.

There are two petrol engines to choose from: an 89bhp 1.4-litre and a 123bhp 1.6-litre unit. Neither are particularly fast, with the larger engine achieving 0 to 62mph in just 10.6 seconds (11.4 seconds in the automatic). However, they're both decent on fuel, achieving up to 50.4mpg and up to 47.9mpg respectively.

The two diesel engines also consist of a 1.4-litre and a 1.6-litre. Performance isn't their strong point, but they make up for that with excellent fuel economy, returning up to 64.2mpg relatively easily. It's worth noting that a Ford B-Max does offer better economy though, with up to 74.3mpg possible.

Practicality and Running Costs

Kia Venga, boot

You have to admire the designers at Kia because they've managed to make the Venga immensely practical despite its compact proportions.

Inside there is plenty of space for four grown adult passengers, who will be able to stretch their legs out under the raised front seats. All cars come with 5-doors and ISOFIX anchor points as standard, making it easy to fit a child's seat.

The rear seats can slide forwards or backwards, which proves very useful when you come to the boot. At 440 litres, it's already pretty substantial in size and will easily carry a pushchair with space to spare. Slide the rear seats forward though and the boot expands to 570 litres.

Kia have good reliability record so older Venga models shouldn't create too much of a headache. On the flip side, later models still benefit from Kia's 7-year warranty for added peace of mind. As with any Kia, servicing and maintenance costs are reasonable, and work can be completed through any Evans Halshaw Kia retailer.

Interior, Technology and Safety

Kia Venga, interior

As you'd expect, the Venga's dashboard and cabin design isn't quite as fresh as a newer car. Although, everything feels hard-wearing and well-bolted together, making the Venga perfect as a family chariot.

Regardless of the model you choose, the Venga is well-equipped. Entry-level '1' models come with electric front windows, privacy glass, steering-wheel mounted controls and split-folding rear seats.

Venga '2' cars are worth keeping an eye out for because they get rear parking sensors, Bluetooth, electric windows all-round and 16-inch alloy wheels. '3' and '4' models aren't dramatically different; both come with a 7-inch touchscreen, satellite navigation, a reversing camera and automatic air-conditioning. However, the top-spec '4' gets luxuries such as a panoramic sunroof.

Kia Venga is available with the following safety features:

  • Anti-lock brakes (ABS)
  • Emergency braking assistance
  • Electronic stability control (ESC)
  • Hill-start assist
  • ISOFIX anchor points

Is the Kia Venga right for me?

The popularity of SUVs is unlikely to wane anytime soon, which makes alternatives such as the Kia Venga much more appealing to those who need the practicality but don't want a massive car. The Venga is immensely practical and hard-wearing; add in the affordable running costs and it makes a lot of sense as a family car.

Although the Venga makes a strong case for itself, it's not without its rivals. The Ford B-Max is more economical and has a better interior, so that's worth a look. Alternatively, there's the Vauxhall Meriva, which also manages to offer a ton of space inside a compact package.
