Used Renault Grand Scenic for sale
First launched in 2004, the Renault Grand Scenic joined the regular Renault Scenic in their quest as quite possibly the best MPVs on the market, making quite a name for themselves over the years.
Essentially, the clue to the differences between the regular Scenic and Grand Scenic is the name, with the latter offering more space and seven seats as standard.
Better looking than ever, this particular model ran from 2016 to 2020. On the face of it, the Renault Grand Scenic offers buyers a realm of decent features, such as:

Engines and Driving Experience
To say the the Grand Scenic is a large MPV, it actually drives rather well and is surprisingly competent. Of course, with a tall MPV body it does tend to lean in corners if you push it out of its comfort zone, but on the whole it offers a decent ride.
Improved engines came into the range in 2018, and you can choose between both petrol and diesel variants. Out went the 1.2-litre petrol with 113bhp and a 0 to 62mph time of 12.6 seconds, in came a keener 1.3-litre with the same power, but the updated engine meant it was over a second quicker to 62mph, taking 11.3 seconds. Despite the larger engine, economy increased to a quoted 50mpg, although in reality it will be more like 40mpg.
A 1.75-litre diesel also appears in the range with 118bhp. Similar in power to the petrol, the 0 to 62mph time is almost identical at 11.7 seconds with over 50mpg possible. This was done to the latest MPG test standards though so it's much more accurate than the petrol mentioned previous.
Practicality and Running Costs
With seven seats as standard, the Grand Scenic will appeal to those with larger families. Of course, you do lose standard boot space with the extra two seats in place - with 233 litres, it's not exactly brilliant, but not terrible. With five seats in play, you do get an enhanced 596 litres, rising to over 1900 litres of van-like load space if you fold all the rear seats over.
Being a Renault and with family life in mind, servicing is reasonable and should be done every year, or after 10,000 miles whichever comes first, and can be taken care of at any Evans Halshaw Renault dealer.
It's worth noting that the tyres will cost quite a bit due to the Grand Scenic's 20-inch standard wheels. They do look great though, so the extra cost is definitely worth it, having arguably the best-looking MPV looks out there.
Interior, Technology and Safety
A smart and modern cabin ensures the family will approve of this multi-purpose vehicle. As we have mentioned, each Grand Scenic gets massive 20-inch alloy wheels, so you will definitely get style points from your kids, probably.
Entry-level 'Play' models get other cool features too, like a large seven-inch infotainment touchscreen, dual zone-climate control, keyless entry and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.
Upgrade to the 'Iconic' trim and get parking sensors all round - handy, due to the Grand Scenic's large proportions. You also get USB ports and fold-down tables in the rear to keep the kids happy with their smart devices and what not.
But what about safety, as you'll want to keep the family protected after all. No worries, as the Renault Grand Scenic comes with lots of safety kit, which includes:
- Autonomous emergency braking
- Adaptive cruise control
- Blind spot monitoring
- Lane departure warning
- Traffic-sign recognition
The Grand Scenic also received a full five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
Is the Renault Grand Scenic right for me?

It's a fair assumption that the Renault Grand Scenic took the styling of the MPV to the next level, but the lust of the chunky, cool looking SUVs means that ultimately, it can't compete in terms of overall desirability.
The Peugeot 5008, Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento have bullied MPVs into retirement with many manufacturers dropping MPVs altogether from their new car ranges.
However, a used Renault Grand Scenic can be found at a rather tempting and much more affordable price than its SUV competition. With a strong standard specification, this particular large MPV is still a good-looking, great value family vehicle alternative.
