We are celebrating today, after our Move Me Closer scheme scooped the Delivery Initiative of the Year award at the Hermes Retail Week Supply Chain Awards. Contending against fellow retail giants, including; ASOS, River Island, Decathlon and Watchfinder, we managed to take the top prize after impressing the panel of retail industry experts, demonstrating that Move Me Closer is leading the way in retail supply chain excellence as the automotive industry's first click and collect scheme. One of the judges commented:
"Evans Halshaw won because the judges felt it introduced an innovative delivery solution that could transform its sector. Move Me Closer is a paradigm breaker that is genuinely putting the customer at the heart of its service."
The scheme enables you to browse 20,000 used cars on our website, and when you find a vehicle you're interested in, we will arrange to move the vehicle from where it is, to a more convenient dealership with no obligation to purchase with a £200 refundable reservation fee. Since the launch in February, we have helped thousands of people find a more convenient dealership to view a car they are interested in.
Tessa Reid was among the first to take advantage of the service after she had been looking for a Nissan Qashqai for some time. She came across the Move Me Closer scheme, and after filling in a simple online application, the vehicle began its 135 mile journey from Evans Halshaw in Hull to the dealership in Chester.
"I had been looking for the Nissan Qashqai for a while before I came across the one at Evans Halshaw Hull. It's the first time we'd really looked at a dealership as we usually buy from auction or privately and I cannot tell you how impressed we were."
"At first, I was thinking about the journey to Hull and how I was going to make it! I then noticed the Move Me Closer service and I clicked on it, filled in a simple form with my details and within about 20 minutes of me completing the application, I had a phone call to discuss the process and arrange a date to view the vehicle. I was astonished that I was able to move the vehicle from the other end of the country to one that was literally minutes away from where I lived!"
Trevor Finn, CEO of Pendragon PLC, Evans Halshaw's parent company commented:
"With the success of Click and Collect on the high street, it seemed an obvious development that automotive retailers should follow suit and bring greater convenience to its customers. We're absolutely delighted Move Me Closer won Delivery Initiative of the Year in the face of such stiff competition. With 120 dealerships it's no mean feat to make Move Me Closer possible for our customers so a big thank you to the many teams across the business that make all our moves happen."
