Used Vauxhall Viva for sale

The Vauxhall Viva is a small car that places emphasis on everyday practicality and an easy driving experience. In addition to that, it's an affordable car to run because of its efficient engine and inexpensive maintenance costs.

Having only been in production between 2015 and 2019, there aren't as many examples to choose from compared to the likes of the Corsa supermini, but the Viva still made a big impression between those dates, which translates to a healthy selection to browse from on the used car market.

Reasons to consider a Vauxhall Viva include:

  • Small and agile (great for parking)
  • Typically better equipped than rivals
  • Efficient engine
  • Can fit adults in the back easily
  • Inexpensive maintenance

Engines and Driving Experience

Choose any colour or model specification you want, because either way you'll be getting a Viva with a 1.0-litre engine that produces 74bhp. It may not sound like much, but this little car weighs just 864kg, which means it actually feels pretty zesty when travelling around town.

It's easy to see over 45mpg in earlier models with little effort. Although, if you want the ultimate in efficiency, then we'd recommend seeking out the ecoFLEX model, which will return up to 65mpg on a combined cycle. A 5-speed manual gearbox features on every car.

Because the Viva is light and small, it feels agile on Britain's roads, and does a good job of soaking up imperfections around town centres. The steering has very little weight to it, which is a welcome trait when parking in tight spaces.

Practicality and Running Costs

You may think the five-door Viva looks too small to offer decent practicality, but you'd be wrong, because despite its compact nature, the inside is genuinely spacious. In fact, you'll be able to fit tall adults in the back with head room and leg room to spare.

Okay, so the 206-litre boot capacity isn't exactly massive. And yes, the likes of the SEAT Mii and Hyundai i10 do offer more space. However, there is plenty of room for weekly shopping so it shouldn't really be a deal-breaker.

Occupying insurance groups 5 and below (50 being the most expensive), the Viva is unlikely to sting you on your annual premium. Servicing is equally affordable through Evans Halshaw Vauxhall. Although, we'd recommend signing up to Vauxhall Service Club if you do buy a Viva, because you'll enjoy discounted servicing and repairs through our workshops.

Interior, Technology and Safety

The Viva is generously equipped throughout the range, with a number of luxuries available that you wouldn't expect from a car this size, such as cruise control and rear parking sensors.

Each car gets electric front windows and an easy-to-use stereo as standard. Selected models come with a multimedia touchscreen that features Bluetooth connectivity. Posher models come with built-in satellite navigation and electronic climate control, so it's worth keeping an eye out for those if you want maximum value.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are available too, and are ideal for connecting your smartphone.

The Viva has a number of safety features available, which include:

  • Tyre pressure monitoring system
  • Lane departure warning
  • Electronic stability programme
  • Automatic cornering lights
  • Isofix anchor points

Is the Vauxhall Viva right for me?

It may have had a short production run, but the Vauxhall Viva represents a bit of a bargain on the used car market, especially when you consider the equipment levels and the super-affordable running costs. So, if you're after a small, yet practical, city car that won't break the bank, then the Viva is worthy of consideration.

There is stiff competition in this segment, with the likes of the Volkswagen up! offering a more premium option, while the aforementioned Hyundai i10 is a popular city car too. Alternatively, there is always the Ford KA+, which offers similar value for money.
