Used Nissan Navara For Sale

The Nissan Navara is a rugged pick-up truck that has enough luxuries to make it a respectable family car for the hands-on professional.

Back in the day, we're talking the 1990s here, the Navara was a utilitarian option for those who simply needed a no-nonsense workhorse to get jobs done.

However, times have changed, and this generation of Navara now offers good refinement and an interior that is loaded with decent kit. All of this, but the without compromising on the Navara's ability to go off-road.

Overview of why you should consider a Navara:

  • Immensely practical
  • Reliable and hard-wearing
  • Punchy diesel engines
  • Impressive towing capability
  • There's room for the family

Engines and Driving Experience

Nissan strayed away from traditional leaf springs in this generation of Navara, deciding to opt for a multi-link set-up instead. As a result, the Navara is remarkably comfortable, and doesn't bounce around like some of its immediate rivals. Refinement is very good, with noise intrusion kept to respectable levels.

There's two variations of a 2.3-litre diesel engine available. Entry-level models, such as the Visia and Acenta, get a single-turbo variant that produces 158bhp and 297lb/ft. Meanwhile, higher-end models, such as the N-Connecta and Tekna, get a twin-turbocharged unit with 187bhp and 331lb/ft. Seeing around 40mpg is possible with either unit, and both offer flexible performance on the move.

The automatic is a good option that doesn't hinder performance, but the manual does offer more control when off-roading. Two-wheel drive versions of the Navara are available, but they aren't as popular as the four-wheel drive models that come with a low-range mode and hill-decent control.

Practicality and Running Costs

The Navara is available in two bodystyles: King Cab and Double Cab. The former is smaller and has rear-hinged doors, as well as rear seats that fold down. Truth be told, we'd only recommend this version if you don't plan on carrying people around on a regular basis. However, the Double Cab makes up for this by providing plenty of space inside for four people (and a fifth if they need a lift).

Only downside with the Double Cab is that you lose just over 200mm of loading bay length compared to the King Cab (1,750mm versus 1,537mm). The Navara has a payload rating of between 1,047kg and 1,156kg, so you can shift just about anything you need to, within reason. Towing shouldn't be an issue, because the Navara can pull up to 3,500kg.

Insurance premiums are going to be slightly heavier than a family SUV because the Navara occupies groups between 36 and 38. However, with servicing schedules set at every 18,000 miles/24 months, which can be completed by Evans Halshaw Nissan, the running costs do balance out.

Interior, Technology and Safety

Despite being a hard-working truck, Nissan have done a very good job of making the Navara's cabin feel like a regular car. The seating position is great, offering plenty of adjustability, while the general layout and finish is genuinely commendable.

Entry-level models come with cruise control, automatic headlights, Bluetooth, and a 5-inch infotainment screen as standard. Move up to the Acenta model and you'll get rear electric windows, 17-inch alloy wheels and some extra safety kit (see below).

A Navara N-Connecta is worth seeking out because it comes with dual-zone climate control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a larger 8-inch touchscreen in the dash, and a reversing camera that displays in the rear-view mirror. Tekna models come with heated seats, LED headlights and rear parking sensors; making them popular choices.

The Navara is available with the following safety features:

  • Hill-decent control
  • Autonomous emergency braking
  • Seven airbags
  • ISOFIX anchor points
  • Stability and traction control
