Used Mercedes-Benz Vito for sale
If you're after a medium-sized van that offers a little more than your average panel van, then the Mercedes-Benz Vito is a fine used option.
With the brand being famous for luxury cars, their vans offer that little bit more than competing panel vans such as the Ford Transit Custom and Vauxhall Vivaro.
Reasons to look for a used Mercedes-Benz Vito include many factors, some of which are highlighted below.
- Premium feeling
- Comfortable
- FWD and RWD
- Multiple versions
- Dependable character
Economy, Towing, and Performance
The Vito is pretty good when it comes to economy, with around 47mpg possible from its engine choices, although some competition can now see over 50mpg.
Maximum towing capacity with a braked trailer is 2,500kg, but this is only for rear-wheel drive models fitted with the upgraded towing pack. As standard, the braked trailer capacity is 2,000kg.
Performance is fairly decent, with the Vito perfect for long-distance comfort, eating the miles with ease. 1.6-litre and 2.1-litre diesel engines are commonplace and provide plenty of poke when carrying loads or towing trailers, and also help with the mile-munching and refinement which some vans can lack.
Bodystyles, Payload, and Capacity
Bodystyles available for the Mercedes-Benz Vito include two wheelbases, three body lengths and a single roof height.
Depending on version, payloads can either be 1,029kg in the L1, 1,002kg in the L2 and 967kg in the L3.
As for capacity L1 dimensions are as follows.
- Maximum load length = 2,586mm, maximum load height = 1,391mm and maximum load width of 1,685mm.
- L2 dimensions are the same, although the length is a larger 2,821mm.
- Finally, L3 dimensions are the same too, albeit it with a larger 3,061 max load length.
Interior, Technology, and Safety
Unlike the larger Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, the Vito is starting to feel a little dated. That said, the fit and finish is what you would expect from a premium van, but the Ford Transit Custom will feel better to some.
Dials are crisp and look good, but the vibe is nothing like that of the latest Mercedes-Benz cars for example, which feature digital instruments.
The range features some good tech with automatic lights, parking sensors and park assist. Whilst safety is also good with the following fitted throughout the range:
- Hill-Start Assist
- Crosswind Assist
- Attention Assist
- Reversing camera
- Electronic stability control
Is the Mercedes-Benz Vito right for me?
If you're in the market for a premium mid-sized van, the Mercedes-Benz Vito is well worth a look.
It does feel more refined and premium than that of a Vauxhall Vivaro, but a Ford Transit Custom will tempt some who feel that the Vito may be starting to feel a little dated.
A VW Transporter is another good bet if you want the quality premium feel in a slightly different package.
