Used Nissan Townstar for sale
Compact, clever and versatile, the Nissan Townstar ticks a lot of boxes if you're after a decent used van that looks to impress.
It's available with a petrol engine, or as a fully-electric version, so you can choose a used Townstar to suit your business.
And if you're thinking the Townstar looks familiar, you'd be right, as like many vans its underpinnings are shared with other manufacturers. In this case the Renault Kangoo and Mercedes-Benz Citan look very similar.
Other highlights of the Nissan Townstar are listed below.
- Petrol or electric options
- Clean styling
- Neat interior
- L1 and L2 variants
- Can accommodate a euro pallet
Economy, Towing, and Performance
Whether you opt for the 1.3-litre petrol engine, or the fully-electric version of the Townstar, you won't need to break the bank when it comes to filling up or recharging as economy is very good.
You'll get between 183 and 269 miles in the electric version; basically you get more miles the more town driving you do, and less miles the more motorway trips you do.
As for the petrol version, you'll see around the 40mpg mark.
Overall performance is good due to the compact proportions, with the electric version feeling instantly zippy thanks to its electric nature.
Towing capabilities include a maximum braked towing capacity of 1,500kg, with the unbraked being capped at 750kg - as with all vans.
Bodystyles, Payload, and Capacity
When it comes to bodystyles with the Nissan Townstar, it's the regular panel van that's available, although there are two different lengths; the regular 'L1' (short wheelbase) which is joined by the 'L2' (long wheelbase) which features an extended load area.
Therefore, payloads are slightly different and mean that if you're looking at a regular short wheelbase Townstar the figure allows for up to 600kg. Alternatively, when looking at the long wheelbase, this figure increases to 800kg.
As for capacity, the following dimensions apply for the Townstar.
- Load Width = 1,570mm on both variants
- Load Height = 1,215mm on both variants
- Load Length = 1,806mm on L1 (SWB) or 2,230mm on the L2 (LWB)
Interior, Technology, and Safety
Entry level 'Visia' specifications get a small 4.2-inch TFT colour display, manual air-con and DAB with Bluetooth. If you can, we'd recommend the 'Acenta' spec and above as you'll get the 8.0-inch touchscreen, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with reversing parking sensors and cruise control.
'Tekna' models add in a rear camera, but it's 'Tekna+' where you'll also benefit from enhanced safety tech with Intelligent Park Assist, Intelligent All View Monitor 360, traffic sign recognition and adaptive cruise control.
As standard, you'll still get Hill Hold Assist, auto lights and wipers, immobiliser and driver airbag.
Is the Nissan Townstar right for me?
If you're after a smart compact van, the Nissan Townstar is a decent bet for sure.
The Mercedes-Benz Citan and Renault Kangoo have near identical vans of the same era, so if your loyalty is with those manufactures, it may be looking at them instead, if you like the look of the Townstar but don't fancy a Nissan badge.
