As the entry-level SUV in the BYD range, a used ATTO 3 looks to take consumers away from the likes of the Kia Niro EV, Hyundai Kona Electric or MG ZS EV.

Engines and Driving Experience
Being an EV, there's no engine, instead power comes from a 150kW motor and 60kWh battery, which gives up to 261 miles of range on a full charge, along with nippy performance, with 0 to 62mph coming up in 7.3 seconds.
The ATTO 3's suspension is soft, and so it's rather comfortable, but don't expect dynamic ability on a B-road, it's more of a cruiser rather than a sporty electric EV, leave that to the likes of a BMW iX1.
It's worth noting at speed, the ATTO 3 does suffer from wind noise around the door mirrors, but other than that, it will be more than comfortable for most.
Practicality and Running Costs
Practicality is good enough in a used BYD ATTO 3, but rear seat space isn't as good as it is up front, with headroom not as good as rivals like the Kia Niro EV.
Boot space is decent, with 440 litres available, but its competition mention tends to offer circa 30 to 35 litres more, which isn't massive, but worth taking into account if you want the biggest boot in this segment.
Running costs should be on the more affordable side of things, due to the car's electric nature and BYD brand as a whole. You'll see less than the quoted 261 miles in colder weather.
Interior, Technology, and Safety
The interior is perhaps the BYD ATTO 3's most interesting feature. It's ultra modern, with a digital instrument cluster and large Tesla-like screen in the middle of the dashboard, which is 12 inches in size, whilst top-spec versions get a 15.6-inch upgraded version- whilst plenty of tech like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto coming as standard.
There's some funky and different 'guitar' strings on the doors, which is a bit random, but also quite quirky - if you like randomness in cars like that.
As for safety, there are some nice features as standard, with blind spot detection, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and traction control all coming as standard. ATTO 3 also boasts a full 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
Is the BYD ATTO 3 right for me?
With BYD pretty new for most used car buyers, there is always the thought of going for more of an established brand, such as from the likes of Kia, Hyundai and MG.
However, the BYD does have a certain independence to it, and with the attractive used prices, considering all the tech and fully-electric nature, it's definitely worth a look if you're in the market for something a little different to the norm.
