Engines and Driving Experience

Driving the Rapid is a relatively easy and simple experience, with the soft suspension increasing comfort as it deals with bumps and cracks in the road. Unfortunately, the vehicle is Rapid by name but not by nature, so if you're looking for an uber-engaging driving experience it may not be the most suitable option.

Diesel (TDI)

1.4-litre: 89bhp, up to 70mpg.
1.6-litre: 113bhp, up to 67mpg.

Both automatic and manual gearboxes can be found on used examples. If you're regularly completing long journeys we'd recommend the diesel, but the petrol engines are more suitable when travelling around town.

Practicality is definitely the Skoda Rapid's forte. 550 litres of boot space in its standard setup is enough to see it sit at the top end of its class. This increases to a mammoth 1,490 litres if you fold the seats, which is ideal when transporting larger pieces of cargo.

Interior space is also generous, with a good amount of adjustability granted to the driver's seat position. Passengers can also travel in comfort too with plenty of head and legroom for adults to sit in the rear, where the ISOFIX mounting points can also be accessed if using child seats.
