The MG4 EV has two battery sizes on offer, starting with the Standard Range 51kWh, which has 168bhp and manages to get from 0 to 62mph in 7.5 seconds. Range is still excellent in this standard model at 218 miles on a full charge.

Next up is the 200bhp Long Range model, which utilises a 64kWh battery and is slightly slower than the Standard Range version, with 0 to 62mph taking around 7.7 seconds. This power is slightly sacrificed for the impressive 281 miles of electric range.

One of the MG4 EV's strong suits is its effortless, fun driving experience. Thanks to its electric motor, it's extremely smooth, quiet, and powerful when you get behind the wheel, with great handling and lots of grip.

Practicality and Running Costs

Fit for a family of five, the MG4 EV offers a spacious cabin upfront, with a great deal of head and legroom. Though passengers under 6ft may find the back seats a little tight, it's ideal for children and small adults to sit comfortably.

There's a decent 353 litres of boot space available, which will do just fine for the weekly shop and a decent amount of luggage. This manages to surpass a few competitors, including the Renault ZOE, which has 338 litres. However, if luggage space is your priority, you might want to consider the Nissan LEAF, which offers a 435-litre boot.

You won't have to fork out at the petrol station with the MG4 EV as it's a fully electric model, meaning charging prices are kept very low. General upkeep is also affordable, with cheap servicing and maintenance costs.

Interior, Technology and Safety

The interior boasts a sleek, minimalistic design, and whilst it doesn't feel as premium as some rivals, it's decent enough for the low price tag. Seats are comfortable, and the cabin is upholstered with high quality, durable materials.

Amongst the equipment and technology is a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and MG's iSmart app.

In terms of safety, the MG4 is designed to keep you and your passengers protected on the road. It has a number of advanced safety features, including a rearview camera, Lane Departure Warning, and Blind-Spot Monitoring.
