Engines and Driving Experience

When it comes to buying a used 208, there are plenty of powertrain options to choose from. Before the 2024 facelift, there were three 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engines producing 74bhp, 99bhp and 129bhp, alongside a 1.5 BlueHDi diesel with 99bhp, which was suited to longer motorway journeys. There was also the all-electric E-208, producing 136bhp, and a WLTP range of 201 miles.

After 2024, they simplified it a bit, keeping the 1.2-litre 74bhp and 99bhp petrol-only options, adding two highly efficient mild hybrid (mHEV) options with the same 1.2-litre petrol engine combined with a small motor delivering 109bhp and 144bhp, which is the quickest, delivering a 0 to 62mph sprint in 8.1 seconds. Peugeot also retained the 136bhp EV, adding a 156bhp version with a more useful 248-mile range.

Practicality and Running Costs

Besides its dramatic styling cues, a used 208 is somewhat practical with enough space for four adults, five at a squeeze, with enough leg and head room to ride in relative comfort. The boot has 309 litres of space, which is the same in the e-208, opening up to a more useful 1,163 litres with the rear seats folded down, while extra storage is covered by cubbies dotted around the cabin.
