Used Citroën Dispatch for sale
The Citroën Dispatch is a decent medium-sized panel van that offers clean styling and high payload ratings.
Whilst it may look like many other panel vans on the market, especially the Peugeot Expert, Fiat Scudo, Toyota Proace and Vauxhall Vivaro of which share the same platform, the Dispatch is still a good choice that offers a decent drive.
Other highlights include:
- Three body lengths available
- High payload ratings
- Clean styling
- Useful sliding rear doors
- Attractive running costs
Economy, Towing, and Performance
Diesel engines fill the Dispatch range. You can find 1.5-litre, 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre units with various power on offer, ranging from just under 100bhp, all the way up to 178bhp.
Mid-range models should see most buyers well and offer the best mix of payload and power. Economy is good and you should see between 35 and 45mpg.
If you're thinking of buying a Dispatch to tow with, you'll see between 1,800kg and 2,500gp for a braked trailer depending on spec, whilst the unbraked limit is 750kg.
To drive, the Dispatch is an easy affair, and being a Citroën the suspension is decent and copes with bumps nicely.
Bodystyles, Payload, and Capacity
You'll be able to find three different body lengths when looking at used Dispatch vans, along with crew van models too. There's also platform cab variants which can be converted.
As for payload, it corresponds with the gross weight of the Dispatch you're considering. Therefore:
- 2,700kg Dispatch, Payload = 1,000kg
- 2,900kg Dispatch, Payload = 1,200kg
- 3,100kg Dispatch, Payload = 1,400kg
As for capacity, again these will depend on the size of the Dispatch:
- XS Length, height, width = 4,609mm, 1,905mm, 1,920mm
- M Length, height, width = 4,959mm, 1895mm, 1,920mm
- XL Length, height, width = 5,309mm, 1,935mm, 1,920mm
Interior, Technology, and Safety
The interior of the Citroën Dispatch is typical of a van, but can feel cramped when comparing to vans such as the Ford Transit Custom.
As for technology and safety, even entry-level vans from 2017 should have cruise control and DAB as standard. Higher trim levels feature nicer spec which can include rear parking sensors, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and sat-nav.
In terms of safety, lots of kit is available, but most isn't included as standard, unfortunately. However, in the range you'll find safety tech including:
- Blind spot monitoring
- Head-up display
- Lane departure warning
- Traffic sign recognition
- Adaptive cruise control
- Electronic stability control
- Autonomous emergency braking
Is the Citroën Dispatch right for me?
If you're after a good all-round medium-sized panel van, the Citroën Dispatch is a decent enough option.
As mentioned previously, the Peugeot Expert, Fiat Scudo, Toyota Proace and Vauxhall Vivaro are all very similar, so you may have a certain preference to a brand, or like the look of one of these vans better.
They all feature fierce competition from the well-known Ford Transit Custom however.
