Used Vauxhall Crossland for sale
The Vauxhall Crossland is a small family SUV that's part of an ultra competitive market.
Being a Vauxhall means it's affordable, simple, economical, and offers most of the essentials you need from a car like this in order for it to take on the role of the family steed.
Despite the tough competition, reasons for choosing a Vauxhall Crossland include:
- Lots of standard equipment
- Inoffensive styling
- Good engine choices
- Decent practicality
- Inexpensive running costs
Engines and Driving Experience
There are five engine choices available with the Crossland comprising of three petrol variants and two diesel options.
The petrol is a 3-cylinder 1.2-litre unit, and comes with either 82bhp, 109bhp, or 128bhp. The lesser powered variant was dropped in more recent times, which is perhaps why you'd be best opting for a punchier 109bhp or 128bhp version.
For the 128bhp version you'll see 0 to 62mph in 9.5 seconds, not rapid, but it won't feel slow in everyday driving. The 109bhp is a second slower. You should see economy reaching circa 45mpg in this pairing.
The diesel is a lot rarer, and is a 4-cylinder 1.5-litre unit usually found in older models and comes with 108bhp or 118bhp. Both of these go from 0 to 62mph in around 11 seconds, despite the larger engines. These will return over 60mpg though.
To drive, the Crossland isn't bad at all, but it doesn't really shine particularly either.
Practicality and Running Costs
Running costs for the Vauxhall Crossland shouldn't cause much issue. Being a Vauxhall means economy is good and servicing is straightforward.
As for practicality, it's a compact SUV so general head and legroom in the front and rear is decent.
Boot size is also impressive, with 520 litres on offer, which increases to 1255 litres if you fold the rear seats flat.
As a compact SUV the Crossland isn't over the top, but it doesn't really stand out either. It merely does all the practical stuff well and shouldn't break the bank to run.
Servicing can be taken care of at any Evans Halshaw Vauxhall retailer.
Interior, Technology, and Safety
The interior of the Crossland is neat, tidy, and unoffensive. It's got various splashes of colour on the dashboard, seats, and trim which usually complements the exterior colour. This freshens up the cabin and works well.
There's a tidy central infotainment screen with the usual connectivity features, but the Crossland reverts to analogue dials and does not a fully-digital set-up which some customers may expect in a car like this.
That said, there's still plenty of tech and safety kit on offer. These include the following available depending on spec:
- Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Lane Departure Warning
- Speed Limit Sign Recognition
- Reversing Camera
- Sat-Nav
Is the Vauxhall Crossland right for me?
If you're after a decent compact SUV, then the Vauxhall Crossland is worth a look. It's contrasting exterior colours and splash of colour within the interior ensure it's a nice all-round effort, that will be more than enough for most.
However, this is a properly competitive market and with alternatives like the Ford Puma offering a better driving experience, whilst the Peugeot 2008 and Renault Captur offer much more style and flair.
