Engines and Driving Experience

In the second generation 2008 there is a 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine, with either 97bhp, 127bhp or 152bhp, along with a 1.5-litre BlueHDi engine, with either 99bhp or 108bhp.

The 127bhp petrol is a peach within the range, especially when mated to the automatic eight-speed transmission, as changes are seamless. The long top gear also means a low 2000rpm at motorway speeds, resulting in a quiet, refined and economical drive.

In towns and cities, the Peugeot i-Cockpit and small steering wheel mean the 2008 feels nimble and a doddle to maneuver.

As for economy, the petrol engines can return between 42 and 52mpg, whilst the diesels return between 54 and 65mpg. Performance isn't too bad either, with all models being fairly brisk for a small SUV.

Practicality and Running Costs

This second generation 2008 is roomier than its predecessor, featuring more rear legroom than before. There is also a bigger boot too, with 434 litres, increasing to 1,467 litres with the rear seats folded.

With five seats, and five-doors, you are not going to struggle getting comfy either. As for running costs, the efficient engine choices mean you'll be visiting petrol stations less frequently, and servicing is reasonably priced due to the small volume engine choice.

Peugeot have really impressed in recent years with interior detail, and this 2008 is no different, with a certain wow factor when entering the cabin.

The digital Peugeot i-Cockpit ensures a futuristic and inviting cluster display, instead of regular analogue dials, and a central, clear and colourful infotainment screen complements the tech perfectly.

Material choice is also of fine quality, meaning the 2008 is superb place to spend time, whether it be behind the wheel or as a passenger.
