Prices have been announced for the new Vauxhall Corsa – Britain’s top-selling small car – with the facelifted range starting from £19,625.
That’s a marginal increase over the current model while the all-electric version is now available in Design trim and starts from £32,445 lowering the cost of zero emission motoring in a Corsa by some £1,500.
The Corsa Electric is also being made available with Vauxhall’s next generation 51kWh battery and a 154bhp motor, which sees its full-charge range increase to 246 miles.
That model costs from £35,475 while Vauxhall says it will be introducing hybrid powertrains to the range later in the year.
All versions of the new Corsa feature Vauxhall’s Vizor front end as well as additional styling and interior upgrades including a 10-inch touchscreen.
Other styling updates include 17-inch black alloy wheels, a black roof, black badging and black Corsa lettering on GS and Ultimate models.
All Corsa models are fitted with LED headlights as standard with top specification Ultimate trim, priced from £25,685, coming with Vauxhall’s IntelliLux LED Pixel Matrix light technology, which automatically cuts out oncoming road users from the beam, ensuring drivers have a clear view of the road even in dark and poor conditions without dazzling others.
Inside, there’s an upgraded infotainment system which includes a new 10-inch touchscreen featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which can be accessed wirelessly on electric models featuring the upgraded 154bhp powertrain, as well as on the petrol GS and Ultimate variants.
The Corsa Electric 154bhp also features wireless phone charging, Vauxhall Connect and Connected Navigation, with the latter also available on petrol Ultimate models.
A 3.5-inch digital instrument cluster is fitted as standard on petrol Design models, which is upgraded to a 7-inch display on all other trims.
In front of the instrument display, the new Corsa features an updated steering wheel design, while new front sports seats are available on GS and above. These are finished in Alcantara on Ultimate trim, which also adds heating and massage functions.
From launch, the Corsa will be available with a choice of 1.2-litre petrol engines - a naturally-aspirated 74bhp engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, a turbocharged 99bhp engine with a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic gearbox, or a 128bhp unit available as an 8-speed automatic.
The automatic models are priced from £22,255.
On the Corsa Electric, the current 134bhp model remains in the line-up and has a 222-mile range.
Vauxhall says that all new Corsa Electric models come as standard with an 11kW on-board charger, allowing for a 0 to 100 percent charge to be completed in 5hrs and 15 minutes.
The same full charge using a 7kW home wallbox is estimated to take 7hrs and 30 minutes, while from a rapid charger recharging to 80 percent capacity takes just 30 minutes.
As with other models in the Vauxhall line-up, the Corsa will be available in Design, GS and Ultimate specifications, with GS trim costing from £22,005 for a 1.2-litre 5-speed manual model.
Design trim includes automatic headlights and wipers and rear parking sensors, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with lane keep assist and speed sign recognition.
GS trim adds a rearview parking camera, which features a new high-resolution, panoramic display on electric 154bhp models. The alloy wheels are upgraded from 16-inches to 17-inches, while inside there is a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Electric GS 154bhp models also feature keyless entry and start.
As well as the matrix lighting system, Ultimate specification includes additional driver assist features such as blind sport alert and adaptive cruise control with lane positioning assist.
The Corsa finished 2022 as the UK’s top-selling supermini and second best-selling car overall, and topped the overall sales charts in 2021.
It's also the best-selling car in its segment so far this year, while the Corsa Electric is the best-selling small electric car, according to the latest SMMT figures.
Vauxhall intends to be an electric-only manufacturer from 2028.
