Used Toyota Camry

The Toyota Camry is a medium-sized saloon car that returned to UK shores in 2019 after a 14-year hiatus, during which time the competent, but not compelling, Avensis took its place. The Camry was only sold here until late 2021.

It's a spacious and comfortable model that's very generously equipped, and in the front you'll find two cupholders and a ginormous centre console, plus a wireless charging pad as well as additional electric points for devices.

All used Camrys are well appointed from an interior perspective. The above-average quality of materials inside the cabin are more than a match for the likes of the Volkswagen Passat, while the layout of the controls is nice and simple.

Infotainment, unfortunately, is not class-leading by any stretch of the imagination. It does have a central touchscreen that houses Bluetooth, DAB radio and satellite navigation, but it's a little bit laggy and beaten hands down by the system in the Skoda Superb.

Engine-wise, there is only one option, a 2.5-litre petrol/electric hybrid paired to a CVT automatic transmission. Mpg in the low-to-mid 50s range is very good for this type of car. It's especially economical around town where the hybrid system relies less on the petrol side of the engine.

The good fuel economy leads to reasonable running costs overall, and Evans Halshaw dealerships are well equipped to deal with Camry servicing. Alternatives range from the Toyota Corolla saloon, to the Honda Civic, Ford Mondeo and Mazda 6.
