The Suzuki Celerio is a city car that's easy to drive and cheap to run. When it was released, the Celerio took the affordability of the Alto and merged it with the practicality of the Splash, replacing both models.

Engines and Driving Experience
When searching for a used Celerio, you won't have the trouble of deciding which engine to choose as Suzuki have made that decision for you. A sole 1.0-litre petrol engine is available that produces 67bhp which, as you can probably tell, isn't the most dynamic to drive. 0 to 62mph takes 13.5 seconds with a manual gearbox and a sluggish 16.4 seconds with an automatic.
It's designed for city driving though, and when doing so it's easy to drive and naturally agile. Taking it out on the motorway is a different story however. The small engine needs to be worked hard to get up to and maintain speed, especially when loaded with luggage or passengers.

Getting the weekly shop in the back won't prove to be a problem due to the 254-litre boot, which is nearing supermini levels of capacity. Dropping the rear seats increases overall room to 726 litres for the instances where you need the extra space. Five doors as standard also means your rear passengers won't have to clamber through a small space to get seated.

Interior, Technology and Safety
The interior is where the Celerio may be outclassed by its rivals. It's made up of cloth upholstery and hard plastics that are durable as opposed to luxurious. The no-frills approach isn't all bad though, as it means there's no complicated systems for you to get your head around and it does feel fairly well built.
Technology is limited as well compared to rivals, you'll have to do without modern features such as Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and satellite navigation. You can get Bluetooth connectivity, DAB radio and electric folding mirrors, but the infotainment system is prehistoric for today's standards and nowhere near as slick as modern systems.
