Used SEAT Tarraco for sale

With the first generation being launched in 2018, the SEAT Tarraco is the Spanish manufacturer's entry to the 7-seat SUV market. Sitting at the top of the SEAT range, the Tarraco is larger than its Ateca and Arona siblings and a great alternative to the Alhambra if you require seven seats.

With the growing popularity of SUVs, the market has become fiercely competitive and offers a range of great options. Here's a brief overview of why the Tarraco is a viable candidate:

  • Well-equipped
  • Excellent safety rating
  • Sleek exterior
  • Good amount of boot space
  • Comfortable ride

Discover the benefits of the SEAT Tarraco in more detail below.

Engines and Driving Experience

Red SEAT Tarraco Driving

The SEAT Tarraco features a stiffer suspension setup than some of its rivals, resulting in a sportier driving experience. This does reduce comfort slightly, but not enough for it to be an issue.

In terms of petrol engines, the Tarraco offers a 1.5-litre 148bhp configuration, or a 2.0-litre engine with either 187bhp or 241bhp. The smaller, lower powered variant is the most economical, achieving upwards of 35mpg. If you fancy beating hatchbacks off the line the 2.0-litre variants can take you from 0 to 62mph in 6.2 seconds, but can be a little thirsty.

2.0-litre diesel engines are also available with either 148bhp or 197bhp, returning up to 50mpg, which may be more suitable if regularly completing long journeys. The diesel variants are also more comfortable carrying heavy loads or towing a trailer of up to 750kg unbraked.

As of 2021, a plug-in hybrid Tarraco is available but be prepared to sacrifice two seats as it's only available as a 5-seater.

Practicality and Running Costs

Red SEAT Tarraco Boot

Inside, there's plenty of head and legroom for driver and passengers on the second row. However, adults and tall teenagers may find it a bit of a squeeze on the third row, but children have no grounds for complaint.

Handy features such as sliding and reclining second-row seats allow easy access to the ISOFIX mounting points on the second row. Boot space is also good, providing 230 litres with seven seats up, 700 litres with the third row folded down, and 1,775 litres when folding down all of the rear seats.

For the most part, the SEAT Tarraco's running costs are reasonable, with the average insurance group being around 20-25 (out of 50). If you opt for the powerful 241bhp variant be prepared for this to rise to group 31. Any Evans Halshaw dealership is also well-equipped to deal with any servicing or maintenance requirements.

Interior, Technology, and Safety

SEAT Tarraco Interior

The SEAT Tarraco comes well-equipped with a long-list of great kit across all specification levels. The entry level SE sees features such as adaptive cruise control and a digital cockpit. The more stylish FR and FR Sport specifications sees the introduction of further benefits such as keyless entry and park assist.

The interior is built to SEAT's usual high quality, with all controls residing within the fancy touchscreen in the middle of the dashboard. This can be more challenging to use whilst driving in comparison to physical buttons and knobs, however.

As with most SEATs, the Tarraco is highly rated in terms of safety, receiving the full five-star Euro NCAP safety rating thanks to a wide range of available safety equipment, such as:

  • Automatic emergency braking (AEB)
  • Lane assist
  • Hill hold control
  • Emergency call
  • Tiredness recognition system

Is the SEAT Tarraco right for me?

With the Tarraco, SEAT have put forward a great option within the large SUV market. With good all-round capabilities, the Tarraco offers a range of handy kit, a comfortable cabin, and an interesting drive.

Alternatives such as the Skoda Kodiaq offer more boot space and may be more suited if using the extra two seats regularly. If you're after something slightly more premium then the Volkswagen Tiguan or Land Rover Discovery Sport are great options, but come at an extra cost.

Nonetheless, the SEAT Tarraco is a fantastic 7-seat SUV, with an engaging driving experience.
