Following its facelift in 2018, the 500X now comes with a simplified petrol-only engine range:

- 1.3-litre FireFly: Standard automatic gearbox, 148bhp and an average of 42.2mpg.
A number of other engine variants are available within the used car market, such as a 1.6-litre E-torQ petrol and a number of diesel engines that can return impressive fuel economy figures, making the diesels more suitable if regularly travelling long distances. However, it's worth bearing in mind that you'll need to get a pre-facelift variant if you opt for any of the discontinued engines.
The driving experience within the 500X is nicely balanced. It's neither really sporty, nor uber-comfortable, but what it does offer is a nice mix of the two for an interesting everyday drive.

Coming with five doors as standard, the 500X is essentially an enlarged hatchback, giving it its crossover SUV title. ISOFIX mounting points also reside on either side of the rear bench, so fitting a child seat is less hassle. Boot space is decent, offering 350 litres as standard, increasing to 1,000 litres when folding down the rear 60/40 split seats. There's also a moveable boot floor, which can be set in two different places, increasing overall versatility.
