Introducing the Renault Trafic Passenger
The Renault Trafic Passenger is a large people carrier that can transport up to nine people without any fuss at all.
It probably won't surprise you, but the Trafic Passenger has been based on the Trafic panel van; the main difference being that the rear has been transformed into a comfortable and airy place for nine people to enjoy over short or long distances.
Typical of any modern Renault, there is a ton of safety features that have been designed to act as a second pair of eyes while you drive. In addition, there are a number of desirable in-cabin technologies that keep you well-connected.
Design and Practicality
Spread over three rows, there is plenty of room to seat up nine passengers (including driver) in comfort. And thanks to the modular nature of the seating, you can change the interior to suit your needs. A sliding door features on the side for maximum convenience.
Whether it's transporting the whole family or going on a mountain biking adventure, Trafic Passenger can cater for any need or requirement. If that wasn't enough, there's 90 litres of storage space scattered around the interior, which is bound to come in handy.
Boot space isn't an issue you'll be shocked to hear. The massive opening created by the boxy rear makes for effortless removal and storage of cumbersome items, while the modularity of the seats means you can create a van for the day if required.
Technology and Safety
Every model in the range comes with DAB radio that has been complemented by an AUX input, a USB port, and Bluetooth connectivity. Sport models come with desirable features such as manual air-conditioning as well automatic windscreen wipers and headlights.
Safety features and driver aids as standard include:
- ABS with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution)
- ESC (Electronic Stability Control)
- Hill Start Assist
- Start & Stop technology
- Tyre Pressure Monitor
If you find yourself doing a large number of motorway miles, then you may want to consider the optional Cruise Control function and the Rear Parking Sensors (standard on Sport models).
Economy and Performance
Renault Trafic Passenger is available with three different diesel engines, which have all been derived from a fifth generation turbocharged 2.0-litre dCi unit.
The entry dCi 120 model produces 120 bhp and 236 ft/lbs, which makes for easy in-gear acceleration. With mixed driving, it won't be too difficult to achieve close to 40 mpg, which is excellent considering the size of Trafic Passenger.
If you want more poke, then you'll want to consider the more powerful options, which have an output of 145 and 170 bhp respectively. The less powerful unit is available with a manual or automatic gearbox, and you'll have to settle for the latter with the most potent unit. You can expect up to 38.7 mpg on a combined cycle from these engine choices.
SpaceClass
If you want some additional elegance adding to the occasion, then the Trafic SpaceClass will happily accommodate. The sleeker body lines are complemented by full LED headlights, dark tinted windows, and 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
Inside, SpaceClass can be configured to suit three different scenarios: professional, family, and adventure. In business format, the large and airy rear space can facilitate up to six people sitting face to face, while the modular seating means you can transport the whole family in luxury.
Climate control features in the front for the driver, with manual air-conditioning included for passengers sat in the back. There's also additional heating for those cooler days.
