Introducing the Renault Kadjar
SUVs are big business in the UK right now and have swiftly become some of the most sought after cars on the market. As a result, just about every manufacturer has jumped on the bandwagon. Translated, there are a lot of cars to consider during the buying process.
Thankfully, Renault have made the decision a lot easier with the introduction of the Kadjar, a medium-sized SUV that boasts bags of technology and genuine off-roading capability (this is rarer than you'd think).
There's space in abundance for the whole family; and the efficient engines available are guaranteed to save you money at the pumps. As the cherry on top of the cake, Renault deliver the Kadjar with a 5-year/100,000 warranty as standard for your peace of mind.
Design and Practicality
Renault have opted for an athletic appearance that isn't overly aggressive during the design of the Kadjar, which is reflected in the contoured body lines that are combined with sharp features such as the lights and grille. A good variety of colour choices complete the package, while the contemporary alloy wheel designs help those colours "pop".
The elegant interior is spacious enough to accommodate the whole family in complete comfort, with full-grown adults managing to find plenty of head and legroom in the rear without trouble. Fitting a child seat is easy work thanks to the accessible Isofix anchor points on the back seats.
With the rear seats up, there is a 472 litres of boot space; more than enough for your weekly shop. Capacity grows to 1,478 litres once those seats have been folded down; ideal for those weekend adventures away.
Technology and Safety
Renault have generously equipped the Kadjar throughout the range, meaning you'll never feel shortchanged with your investment. As standard you get a 7-inch multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Go for the 'Iconic' model and above to receive satellite-navigation with European mapping.
Kadjar is delivered with automatic dual zone climate control as standard, which is a welcome addition on those warm days during peak summer. You even get rear parking sensors and cruise control as standard features throughout the range.
Unsurprisingly, there are a large number of driver aids and safety features included. Our highlights are:
- Emergency Brake Assist
- LED daytime running lights
- Automatic headlights and automatic windscreen wipers
- Tyre pressure monitor
Economy and Performance
Two petrol and two diesel engines are available to choose from, all of which offer excellent real-world performance and affordable running costs.
Putting a 1.3-litre petrol engine in an SUV this size may sound strange, but the addition of a turbocharger makes it a punchy unit (140 bhp) that still manages to return over 47 mpg on a combined cycle. You can opt for the same engine with more power (160 bhp) for extra overtaking prowess. An automatic is available with the less powerful variant.
The two diesel engines, a 1.5-litre and a 1.7-litre respectively, offer more flexibility for families that do longer distances every year. The smaller unit offers better fuel efficiency, with up to 65 mpg achievable. However, if you want the luxury of four-wheel drive, then you'll need to go for the bigger engine. You'll still get between 47.9 and 52.3 mpg though.
- Front & Rear parking sensors
- 7" touchscreen with navigation and Apple CarPlay™ & Android Auto™
- Hands-free keycard
- Front and rear parking sensors
- LED Daytime running lights
- Cruise control with Speed Limiter
Key features in addition to Equilibre:
- Roof bars
- Full LED headlights
- Blind spot warning
