Introducing the new Peugeot 408 Plug-in Hybrid and E-408
Standing out as a completely unique model in the Peugeot line-up, the 408 sports a sleek fastback silhouette with an SUV-inspired height and a touch of saloon refinement.
Now available as an plug-in hybrid and as the fully electric E-408, you get the choice between the versatility of a hybrid or the efficiency of zero-emissions.
Both versions share the same striking design, premium interior, and advanced technology that make the 408 such a distinctive car.
Positioned between the Peugeot 308 hatchback and the 3008 SUV, the 408 holds its own, with bold, futuristic styling, a spacious cabin, and generous boot space, making it just as practical as it is eye-catching.
Range and Performance
The Peugeot 408 is offered as both a plug-in hybrid and a fully electric model, each delivering an engaging driving experience, with plenty of power and efficiency to suit different needs.
In plug-in hybrid form, the 408 uses a 1.6-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor, available in either the 180 e-EAT8 or 225 e-EAT8 powertrain. Electric-only driving of up to 50 miles means you can complete most short journeys without using fuel, and the transition between electric and petrol power is seamless thanks to the refined automatic gearbox.
The fully electric E-408 is powered by a 58kWh battery and a 207bhp motor, delivering instant torque and responsive performance. The near-silent operation makes every drive relaxing, while the range of up to 281 miles means it’s just as capable on a long trip as it is in daily use.
Charging
With all versions of the Peugeot 408, charging has been designed to be quick and convenient.
For the plug-in hybrid, there’s a choice of two 1.6-litre petrol rechargeable hybrid powertrains, each offering an electric-only range of up to 50 miles, and both are paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
Charging from empty to full takes less than two hours with a 7.4kW home wallbox, or around five and a half hours using a standard 3-pin plug, making it easy to top up overnight or during the day.
The all-electric E-408 has a range of up to 281 miles and supports rapid charging up to 120kW. This allows a 20 to 80 percent charge in just over 30 minutes using a suitable DC charger.
Home charging is straightforward too, with a wallbox providing a full charge in around seven and a half hours, while Peugeot’s charging management system lets you schedule charging to take advantage of lower electricity rates.
