The OMODA 9 has a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine, but, the OMODA is a plug-in hybrid, meaning it's attached to a clever hybrid system (two electric motors) giving a total power of 443bhp.
This means it's rather quick, especially when comparing it to the OMODA 5 and OMODA E5 SUVs, which complete 0 to 62mph in the 7 second region, however, the OMODA 9 drops the 0 to 62mph time to just 4.9 seconds.
This means its ideal for those who want a properly quick mid-sized SUV, and the benefit the hybrid tech gives also boosts economy too, so it's a fine combination enhancing the driving feel which other OMODA's may feel lacking in.
Practicality and Running Costs
Being a mid-sized SUV, the OMODA 9 offers much more space than its smaller siblings. It also offers more space than comparable SUVs in its class. That's because it offers a massive 660-litre boot, which increases to 1,783 litres with the rear seats folded.
For comparison a Kia Sportage offers 591 litres, or 1,780 litres with the seats folded, whilst a more premium competitor in the form of the Range Rover Velar offers up to 632 litres, or 1,690 litres with the rear seats folded.
As for running costs, a used OMODA 9 should be pretty competitive, the official economy is that it will return up to 201mpg, but in reality you'll probably see a quarter of that. However, the 93 mile total electric range will bump up the economy and be rather useful, as it's one of the most offered by a PHEV.
Interior, Technology and Safety
Being a mid-sized SUV, there's a more premium feel about an OMODA 9, when compared to its smaller 5 and E5 siblings.
Again, spec is really comprehensive with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto coming as standard, along with a large 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and complementing an infotainment screen of the same size. These will keep a used OMODA 9 feeling ultra-modern for a while.
Mirroring other OMODA SUVs, the OMODA 9 scored a maximum five-star rating from Euro NCAP thanks to a whole host of driver assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control, 360 degree panoramic view camera, blind spot detection and lane departure prevention.
