It almost feels like the Nissan Micra has been around since the dawn of time itself. Talk to your elders and they will likely remember seeing hundreds of the original driving around back in the 1980s when they were first introduced.

Design and Practicality
The Micra of old was always described as functional in its appearance. However, Nissan have taken it up a notch with the latest generation by opting for a futuristic design, which is complemented by a variety of colour packs.
So, whether you want something subtle, such as a 'Passion Red' body colour with black wheels, or you want something extroverted like the 'Gunmetal Grey' with 'Energy Orange' exterior pack, Micra has your personality covered.
Even though the Micra is a compact supermini, there is generous levels of space inside for passengers in the front and rear of the car. With a boot space capacity of 300 litres, you won't struggle on the weekly shop. Fold the rear seats down and you have 1,004 litres.
Technology and Safety
Despite the reasonable cost, the Micra is available with some brilliant features and technology. Nissan's latest infotainment system sits proudly within the centre console and comes with smartphone integration, Bluetooth and a sharp 7-inch touchscreen.
The standard audio in the Micra is very impressive, but Bose Personal takes it to a new level entirely. Six speakers are dotted around the cabin, with two having been placed in the headrest, for a unique 360° sound experience that you'll struggle to find anywhere else at this level.

Economy and Performance
The Nissan Micra has always taken pride in its affordable running costs. The latest generation continues to impress with a choice of three petrol engines.
The first two choices are derived from a 0.9-litre unit that has been turbocharged. They both produce just under 100 bhp and offer a good slab of torque in the mid-range. CO2 ranges from 126-145 g/km for this engine, while up to 50.4 mpg can be achieved on a combined cycle. You have the choice between a 5-speed manual or a slick Xtronic automatic gearbox.
If you want a bit of extra punch, then you need the 1.0-litre turbocharged engine, which produces 115 bhp and 147 ft/lbs. With CO2 at a lowly 133 g/km and mpg of up to 47.9 mpg, this is a fine choice.
