Introducing the Kia EV2

Silver Kia EV2 Exterior Side Static

Small in size, big on substance — the Kia EV2 makes electric driving highly accessible. It brings fully electric driving to a compact SUV designed for urban living. One of the most affordable ways into Kia’s electric range, it's a strong alternative to larger models like the EV3 and EV6. Designed and developed with European drivers in mind, it's ideal if you're looking to take your first step into electric motoring.

The EV2 slots neatly into UK car parks and city streets without sacrificing the interior space and equipment that drivers have come to expect from the Kia range. Whether you're commuting, running errands or heading out on longer journeys, the EV2 is up for the job.

Explore the EV2 at your nearest Evans Halshaw Kia retailer, and discover if this innovative SUV is the ideal match.

Design and Practicality

Compact on the outside doesn’t mean cramped inside. The EV2's electric platform frees up cabin space, giving it an airy, open feel. The boxy silhouette isn't just a stylistic choice — it makes the most of headroom and rear passenger space.

At the front, Kia's signature vertical daytime running lights and Star Map LED headlights give the EV2 a recognisable face that shares its bold looks with the larger EV9. The rugged bumper cladding and wheel arch trims are more practical than they might appear. On UK roads, where potholes and trolley-dented supermarket car parks are a daily reality, that extra protection around the car could save a costly repair.

A wraparound dashboard design and fabric-trimmed surfaces create a welcoming feel. Boot space stands at 362 litres in a five-seat setup, rising to 403 litres with the optional sliding two-seat rear bench, which reclines and splits 50/50 for added flexibility. There's also a 15-litre front storage compartment under the bonnet — a handy spot for charging cables.

Technology and Safety

Kia EC2 Interior Dashboard

At the centre of the Kia EV2's cabin is a triple-screen infotainment system that integrates with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This gives you easy access to navigation, music and apps. Over-the-air software updates keep the car's technology current, while the navigation factors in remaining battery power and charging points on your route, taking the guesswork out of longer trips.

One of the more thoughtful touches in the EV2's infotainment setup is the option to ditch the factory sat-nav altogether on entry-level models, reducing the purchase price for those who prefer to rely on Apple CarPlay or Google Maps.

When it comes to safety, the EV2 carries a full suite of advanced driver assistance features (ADAS), including forward collision-avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot collision warning and driver attention warning. Adaptive cruise control with lane centering is also available, helping to make motorway journeys less tiring.

Powertrains and Performance

With its smooth, quiet and efficient performance, the fully electric Kia EV2 is designed for daily use. The electric motor provides instant pickup, making acceleration responsive, particularly around town where stop-start traffic is common.

The standard-range model pairs a 42.2kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a front-mounted electric motor producing around 144bhp, for a 0 to 62mph time of around 8.6 seconds and a WLTP-certified range of up to 197 miles.

For those who often venture further, the long-range variant features a 61kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery with around 134bhp, offering more relaxed performance and up to 281 miles of range. This makes it an attractive choice as a household's only car.

If you're into adventures, the EV2 can tow up to 750kg — enough for a small trailer or a rear-mounted bike carrier, opening up plenty of weekend possibilities.

Charging

All EV2 models include 11kW AC charging as standard, allowing a full overnight charge using a home wallbox. This is the most cost-effective way to keep the battery topped up. An optional 22kW AC upgrade is available across the range, making the EV2 the first Kia to launch with both AC speeds — a big advantage at workplace and public AC points.

For longer trips, the EV2 supports DC rapid charging, capable of a 10 to 80 percent charge in around 30 minutes. The Kia Connect app also lets you schedule charging sessions, check battery level and warm the cabin before you set foot in the car.

The EV2 features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, letting you power external devices, such as laptops, power tools and camping equipment, directly from the battery with a standard socket.
