Introducing the new DS N°7
The new DS N°7 arrives with a single self-charging hybrid and three all-electric versions known as the DS N°7 E-Tense. Launching with three powertrain options and various range options, the DS N°7 E-Tense is DS' premium all-electric SUV, underlining the brand's commitment to French-designed luxury cars.
The DS N°7 E-Tense sits under its larger companion, the fluid-lined DS N°8 and above the more compact N°4, and, although still bold and boxy, it adds sculpted lines throughout, making it one of the better-looking mid-sized SUVs on the market. A sloping rear roof, imposing illuminated grille, V-shaped daytime running lights, and rear light blade all tie into the N°7 E-Tense's good looks, making this family-sized SUV stand out with it's cutting edge design.
Powertrains and Performance
The new DS N°7 E-Tense arrives with three all-electric variants. Each one has competitive range and a boost option that delivers more power in short bursts for quick starts and safer overtaking. They're quicker than the DS N°7 hybrid and smoother at takeoff; however, all N°7 models have a smooth ride thanks to advanced driver safety systems such as the DS active scan suspension, which adjusts the suspension according to the road environment.
The entry-level model is the N°7 FWD, which delivers 227bhp (256bhp with boost) to the front wheels, sprinting the DS N°7 E-Tense from 0 to 62mph in 7.7 seconds. It has the smallest battery at 73.7kWh and the shortest range, which is still an impressive 337 miles.
The mid-level N°7 E-Tense, known as the N°7 FWD Long Range, features a larger 97.2kWh battery and has an output of 242bhp (276bhp with boost), with a similar sprint time of 0 to 62mph in 7.8 seconds. It comes with the longest range of an excellent 460 miles. You could drive from London to Glasgow on a single charge if you're careful with the foot.
Finally, there is a N°7 AWD Long Range with a pair of motors giving you a cool 345bhp (or 370bhp with boost) and a very quick 0 to 62mph in 5.4 seconds. Having two motors does reduce the range from its 97.2kWh battery, delivering around 422 miles, which is still more than notable.
Charging
When it comes to powering up, the new DS N°7 E-Tense continues to impress, with 20 percent to 80 percent in 27 minutes, which is an ultra-rapid time for a SUV of this class.
All DS N°7 E-Tense models have a standard connectivity pack included with purchase. This includes the MyDS App, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. The additional connectivity packs are where it becomes more useful for the N°7 E-Tense. The Connect Pack One includes E-Remote Control, which lets you check your battery's range and state of charge, and Free2Move Charge, which offers an ecosystem of charging solutions, including home charging support.
The Connect Plus Pack adds Connected navigation with EV routing, allowing you to easily plan journeys, the E-Routes App, and the EV Trip Planner, useful applications for your new DS N°7 E-Tense.
