Introducing the BYD Dolphin
The all-electric BYD Dolphin is the first vehicle in the 'Ocean Series' along with the Seal executive saloon, and it certainly joins the unique and futuristic design cues of the BYD range.
And not only does the Dolphin look the part, it is hugely practical too, with a spacious, as it provides both drivers and passengers with more than enough space to ride comfortably and a great deal of room for belongings.
The Dolphin's distinctive design is complemented by exceptional quality from the inside out, resulting in excellent levels of refinement every time you step inside.
Design and Practicality
Sharp lines, a sleek, rounded bodystyle, and tricolour alloy wheels complement the exterior of the Dolphin, making a pretty attractive package upon first glance.
Step inside the Dolphin, and you'll be met with a premium feel through and through, with high-quality materials surrounding the cabin, a rotatable 12.6-inch touchscreen, and dolphin-like door handles, which adds a touch of fun to the interior.
It's very practical, too, boasting a cabin big enough to seat five adults comfortably (an impressive quality for a compact hatchback), and a 345-litre boot which will be capable of holding a considerable amount of luggage.
Technology and Safety
BYD cars offer some of the most advanced technology and safety features on the market, and the Dolphin is no different. You can find standard features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Intelligent Cruise Control, and surround view cameras on all Dolphin models.
BYD Dolphin models feature an abundance of safety and driver assistance features to keep drivers safe and relaxed on the road, including:

Range and Performance
There is just one 60kWh battery on all versions of the BYD Dolphin, which offers a maximum of 265 miles of range. This will do just fine for most daily commutes and then some.
There are four versions of the Dolphin:
- Active: 94bhp with a range of 211 miles
- Boost: 174bhp with a range of 193 miles
- Comfort: 201bhp with a range of 265 miles
- Design: 201bhp with a range of 265 miles
Charging
A rapid charger will see the Dolphin get from 0 to 80 percent in as little as 29 minutes, which is ideal for added convenience on top of a decent electric range.
