Introducing the BYD Seal

BYD has taken the UK by storm since its initial launch of the ATTO 3 in early 2023. Since then, drivers have been impressed by its clever design and excellent all-electric driving experience, and have been left wanting more in terms of bodystyles.

The Seal is part of the brand's 'Ocean Series', and features futuristic looking aesthetics as well as a practical and sophisticated saloon body.

The Seal might just stand out as a front-runner in the executive car segment for drivers seeking a unique-looking vehicle that will turn heads.

Design and Practicality

The BYD Seal is the first executive saloon to debut in the UK. It features aerodynamic design features from its X-shaped front end to its sleek spaceship-like interior.

There is also a somewhat sporty finish to the Seal's exterior, with a sloped roofline you often see with saloon bodystyles, side skirts, and rear LED lights featuring streamlined double U-shaped light clusters that complete its striking, sporty looks.

Inside, it looks more than refined, with a slick design that can easily compete with many premium rivals. It's also highly comfortable, with plush high quality seats and plenty of head and legroom.

The boot is a respectable 402 litres, which will be more than suitable for most, and a 53-litre 'frunk' is provided, which is perfect for storing items such as charging cables.

Technology and Safety

The 15.6-inch touchscreen dominates the BYD Seal's cabin, completing the suave and hi-tech feel you get upon stepping inside.

The system features standard apps and features from the likes of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to a rotating function that allows the screen to be viewed in landscape or portrait mode.

More helpful equipment and driver assistance technology includes:

  • Voice commands
  • Panoramic glass roof
  • iTAC (intelligence Torque Adaption Control) system
  • Lane Change Assist
  • 12-speaker Dynaudio Performance Audio System

Range and Performance

The fully-electric BYD Seal is available as a rear-wheel drive model or a high-performing all-wheel drive version.

The rear-wheel variant is powered by a 308bhp single motor and can get from 0 to 62mph in as little as around 5.9 seconds. It uses an 82kWh battery that can deliver an impressive 354 miles of range.

A highly powerful 523bhp dual-motor sends power to all four wheels in the all-wheel drive version, and can achieve 0 to 62mph in just 3.8 seconds. This extra power slightly compromises practicality, reducing the range to around 323 miles.

Charging

Both versions can be charged at up to 150kW, which can be topped up from 30 percent to 80 percent in as little as 26 minutes.

Test Drive the BYD SEAL

The all-electric BYD SEAL offers a striking electrified design, great performance, and an attractive range of up to 354 miles, making it an ideal executive saloon for long drives and commutes.

If you like to test drive the BYD SEAL, then you can do by contacting your nearest Evans Halshaw BYD retailer, who will be more than happy to book you in.
