The Dacia brand is still relatively new, coming to the UK in 2013, bringing with it the UK's least expensive new car - the Sandero. Naturally, as a used car, they offer decent value for money when used too.
Is the Sandero a tiny and poor quality city car? Not at all, in fact, the Sandero is around the same size as the UK's best-selling car, the Ford Fiesta. But with it being so cheap, is it actually any good?

Engines and Driving Experience
Multiple petrol engines are available, including a 0.9-litre, 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre. These offer similar power outputs between 71bhp and 98bhp, along with economy of up to 50mpg. A 1.5-litre diesel engine completes the line-up, which offers economy of up to 80mpg, but in reality you'll see around 60mpg.
Performance isn't exactly brisk, but you can work the gearbox to get the most out of the engines, with 0-62mph taking between 11 and 14 seconds.
To drive, the Sandero is a basic affair, which is surprisingly refreshing, simple and involving. No cutting-edge infotainment, or multiple drive modes mean you can focus on the drive, which is complemented by a compliant and comfortable ride, thanks to factors such as the chunky tyres.
Practicality and Running Costs
Practicality is taken care of well in the Sandero. This is thanks to coming as standard with 5-doors for easy access, along with a decent sized boot offering 328 litres, or an enhanced 1,200 litres with the rear seats folded flat.
As the Dacia Sandero is inexpensive to buy, you'll be pleased to know it's also going to cost very little to run too. Therefore, economy is good, along with servicing and maintenance being very affordable also.

Interior, Technology and Safety
If you have ever driven an older Renault vehicle, you may feel familiar with the Dacia Sandero's interior. It's very minimal, and if we are honest, very basic and plain. Older Access models don't feature radios or air-con, but many newer models come with more comforting features such as sat-nav and a nice infotainment set-up.
However, the very basic models have a certain charm to them, being ultra-simplistic. It lets you focus on the driving task at hand, as very there are next to no distractions.
As for safety, ABS and ESC feature within the range, along with hill start assist. Emergency brake assist is also available.
