Peugeot has revealed its new all-electric E-5008, and it’s a 7-seat SUV with a claimed range of up to 410 miles.

Built on the Stellantis STLA-M platform and following on from the new E-3009 it is the first model to benefit from an extended configuration with a length of 4.79m and a 2.90m wheelbase.

It has a rapid DC charging time of 20 percent to 80 percent in 30 minutes and connected services including a trip planner, smart charging, vehicle-to-load, over-the-air updates and built-in ChatGPT.

Aimed very much at families, the E-5008 has a boot volume of 748 litres in a 5-seat configuration, 259 litres in a 7-seat configuration and up to 1,815 litres in a 2-seat configuration.

There’s also further storage space below the boot floor.

The model should be available in the UK in the autumn and while prices are still to be announced the bigger version of the recently announced E-3008 is expected to cost around £2,500 pushing the price closer to £50,000.

A hybrid new 5008 and a plug-in version will be launched around the same time and should be cheaper with fuel economy of around 40mpg.

The E-5008 will be available with a choice of three powertrains – a single motor version offering 311 miles range, a longer range more powerful model with 410 miles range and a dual motor all-wheel drive version also capable of up to 311 miles on a full charge.

The 5008 Hybrid 136 e-DCS6 features the Peugeot Hybrid 48V system, which consists of a new-generation 136hp petrol engine coupled with a dual-clutch six-speed automatic gearbox that incorporates an electric motor.

In urban driving, Peugeot says the 5008 Hybrid 136 e-DCS6 can operate up to 50 percent of the time in all-electric mode.

The plug-in model mates a 92kW electric motor with a 150hp petrol engine and has an electric-only range of 49 miles. It is fitted with a 60-litre fuel tank for added range.

Two trims will be available on the E-5008 starting with Allure models which have Peugeot’s latest i-Cockpit with a 21-inch curved screen, customisable i-Toggle switches and ambient lighting, wireless smartphone charger, keyless entry and start, a rear HD camera, rear parking sensors, and LED headlights as well as 19-inch alloy wheels.

Higher specification GT versions have Alcantara upholstery, 20-inch alloys, pixel LED headlights, 3D LED rear lights, front parking sensors, a handsfree electric tailgate, heated front seats, heated steering wheel and adaptive cruise control with stop and go.

Prices correct as of 21/03/2024 and are subject to change.
