Evans Halshaw Announces Acquisition of Four Stores from Read Motor Group
We’re delighted to confirm that we have acquired four stores from Read Motor Group, with the deal completing on Friday 6th March 2026.
This acquisition brings three Hyundai dealerships—located in Derby, Doncaster and Grimsby—into the Evans Halshaw family, increasing our Hyundai network from five to eight stores.
We’re also excited to welcome MG Grimsby as part of the deal, taking our total MG representation to five sites across the UK.
This strategic expansion strengthens our presence in the East of England and marks our second acquisition in under 12 months, following our successful purchase of Hatfields Motor Group last year. Across the wider Lithia UK group, we’ve continued to grow at pace, having added Jardine Motor Group, Arden Motors, Pendragon, Hatfields Motor Group and now part of Read Motor Group to the business in under three years.
Neil Williamson, Operations President of Lithia UK, said:
“We are delighted to add these four stores to our Lithia UK portfolio. This acquisition is a continuation of our strategy to expand our presence in specific regions and will deepen our representation with Hyundai and MG brands. We have grown our representation with Hyundai from two stores to eight in the last 18 months. Similarly, we opened our first MG store in 2024 and now we have a total of 5 stores.”
As Evans Halshaw continues to grow, we’re proud to be welcoming all 75 Read Motor Group colleagues into the business. We’ll also be introducing an additional 38 roles across the stores, ensuring continuity, stability and the highest level of service for both existing and new customers.
With this deal, our Evans Halshaw retail operation now spans 77 locations nationwide. Alongside Hyundai and MG, we represent over 20 global automotive brands including BYD, Citroën, Ford, Kia, Peugeot, Renault and Vauxhall.
Gary Armstrong, Managing Director of Evans Halshaw, added:
“We’ve experienced an upward trend in volume brand sales over the past 18 months, so it’s fantastic to be able to add more Hyundai and MG stores to the business. This will enable us to grow our customer base and continue to meet demand. We look forward to welcoming existing and new customers through the doors in the coming weeks as we transition the stores over to Evans Halshaw.”
