Introducing the new MG HS

The MG HS is a large and practical SUV featuring a sophisticated design both inside and out.

Packed with technology and generous standard features, the HS is affordable luxury in a tempting package.

Discover the MG HS in more detail below, and learn about the different petrol and plug-in hybrid versions which are available within the range.

Design and Practicality

The new MG HS builds upon the previous model, which was a popular large SUV from MG. It now features a more mature redesign, featuring a sharper and more sophisticated design language both on the outside and within the interior, along with more dynamic detailing too.

Complementing its enhanced stance are some 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels - which come as standard and really set the HS off nicely.

Being a large SUV, there's also plenty of interior and luggage space, with the HS featuring a useful 463-lite boot, which can be increased to capacious 1,454 litres with the rear seats folded flat.

Interior, Technology, and Safety

Inside the new MG HS, there's plenty of tech on offer complementing the overall vibe of this sophisticated large SUV. There's a fully digital instrument cluster, along with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard, meaning staying connected is simple.

Plug-in hybrid models get a little uplift in kit as standard too, with the SE PHEV model getting a 360-degree parking camera.

Safety features included in the MG HS range include:

  • Lane Departure warning
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Blind spot monitor
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Intelligent Speed Limit Assist
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Intelligent High Beam Assist

Engines and Performance

There's a sole 1.5-litre petrol engine available in the MG HS, which is turbocharged.

In the standard petrol model, there's a choice of it to be paired with a 6-speed manual, or a 7-speed auto DCT. Both offer 160bhp along with a 0 to 62mph time of around 9.6 seconds.

The manual version is a little bit more economical with 37mpg possible, whilst the auto returns 36mpg.

The plug-in hybrid version uses the same 1.5-litre petrol engine, with the electric input giving more power, which totals 254bhp. This drops the 0 to 62mph time to circa 6.9 seconds, whilst economy rises to 155mpg and with the added benefit of up to 32 miles of electric range.
