Introducing the new Hyundai IONIQ 6 N
The 'N' badge has a meaning that many buyers won't know. It stands for both Namyang, Hyundai's R&D HQ in South Korea, and the Nürburgring. That single letter is the most concise brief the design engineers could ever have.
The Hyundai IONIQ 6 N is the performance variant of Hyundai's impressive electric saloon — and it makes a strong case for being one of the most complete driver's cars on the road today. Where the standard IONIQ 6 impresses with its aerodynamics and everyday practicality, the N takes everything further: more power, more precision and a more thrilling driving experience.
Built around Hyundai N's three core principles of Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability and Everyday Sportscar, this is a car that holds its own on track while remaining entirely at home on a daily commute.
Powertrains and Performance
The IONIQ 6 N is fully electric, powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup drawing from an 84kWh battery. In the standard setup, the twin motors produce 593bhp and 546lb ft of torque. Engage N Grin Boost and output climbs to 641bhp and 568lb ft for ten seconds — enough for a 0 to 62mph time of 3.2 seconds with N Launch Control engaged, and a top speed of 160mph.
Unlike a petrol engine that needs to build revs, an electric motor delivers maximum torque the moment you press the accelerator — which is why the IONIQ 6 N feels so quick in everyday driving, from junction launches to motorway overtakes.
Despite that output, the 84kWh battery delivers up to 302 miles on the WLTP cycle, with 350kW ultra-rapid charging enabling a 10 to 80 percent top-up in around 18 minutes.
Chassis and Handling
Hyundai N has completely redesigned the suspension geometry and re-engineered the chassis rather than simply transplanting the IONIQ 5 N's setup. The IONIQ 6 N also benefits from electronically controlled adaptive dampers.
One of the hidden advantages of an EV platform is where the battery sits. Mounted flat beneath the floor, it lowers the car’s centre of gravity significantly — lower than most sports saloons — which naturally improves cornering stability and body control.
An electronic limited-slip differential actively manages power between the rear wheels, while wider tracks, sharper steering and strut braces work together to deliver a more precise, rigid drive.
Technology and Drive Modes
The IONIQ 6 N lets you build your own setup rather than choosing between presets. Steering weight, power delivery, suspension firmness and traction control are all individually adjustable. As a result, the car can be as forgiving or as focused as you choose.
N e-Shift simulates gear changes in software for a more connected feel, while N Active Sound+ adds acoustic feedback that makes the car feel more alive when accelerating. For those who want to go one step further, N Drift Optimizer lets you tune how a drift starts, holds, and exits — possible because the front and rear motors have no mechanical connection.
A 12.3-inch infotainment display, augmented reality head-up display, and dedicated performance screen showing G-force and lap telemetry complete the package.
Experience the IONIQ 6 N with Evans Halshaw
In 2023, the IONIQ 6 won World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle of the Year, and World Car Design of the Year — making Hyundai the only manufacturer to sweep all three in back-to-back years (the IONIQ 5 did the same in 2022). Based on these credentials, you know the IONIQ 6 N is a car that means serious business.
