Introducing the new Hyundai IONIQ 6
Another exciting fully-electric vehicle joins the Hyundai range in the form of the IONIQ 6, which enhances the exciting electric cars on offer from Hyundai.
Joining the IONIQ 5 - a Crossover Utility Vehicle - the IONIQ 6 is an aerodynamically sculptured saloon come coupé mix with a properly futuristic design language. This ensures the IONIQ 6 looks more like a concept car rather than a production car.
Boasting interesting design, impressive range and trick features, discover these factors in more detail along with everything else you need to know regarding the IONIQ 6 below.
Design and Practicality
With many cars appearing similar to the competition, Hyundai IONIQ models look to stand out for all the right reasons, and the IONIQ 6 is no different.
The sleek and elegant silhouette is very different to the usual Hyundai SUVs, crossovers and hatchbacks and therefore is a breath of fresh air in terms of Hyundai's offerings.
The headlight and tail lights feature a pixel-light design which showcases a retro vibe which contrasts nicely with the car's overall concept car and futuristic nature.I
Technology and Safety
Being fully electric, the IONIQ 6 features plenty of state-of-the-art technology. Step inside, and you'll note the widescreen digital instrument cluster and infotainment set-up, which comprises two high-resolution 12-inch displays.
IONIQ 6 also features e-ASD, which gives the cabin a spaceship-like sound, which changes based on the vehicle’s driving status. Tech can be kept right up to date too thanks to Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates.
Funky sounds and sleek digitised instruments are complemented by a high standard of safety tech too. This is because the IONIQ 6 is equipped with the next level of Hyundai SmartSense - Advanced Driver Assistance Systems - which ensure enhanced safety and convenience whilst driving.
Other useful safety tech includes Smart Cruise Control, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Evasive Steering Assist.
Another trick in the IONIQ 6's arsenal is the door mirrors, which are actually cameras.
Range and Performance
As a BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) there is no engine in the Hyundai IONIQ 6. Instead, you will be able to select from a range of drive motors and battery packs to tailor your perfect IONIQ 6.
Choose between a standard 53kWh battery, or a long-range 77.4kWh battery, which can be specified with two electric motor configurations - either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
A range-topping dual motor all-wheel drive option is also available - which is the fastest version completing the 0 to 62mph sprint in an impressive 5.1 seconds.
A circa 379-mile range is possible depending on specification chosen.
Charging
As with the cutting-edge vibe of the Hyundai IONIQ 6, charging times are reduced thanks to Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform.
This ensures the ability to make use of 800-V ultra-fast charging from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.
