Introducing the Ford Capri
'The car you always promised yourself' the original Ford Capri was an instant hit when it came along in 1969. After the final edition of the Capri - the 280, was made in 1986, the Capri story came to a close.
But now, the legend is back. Celebrating the past, whilst reinventing the future, this is the all-electric Ford Capri. Ready to inject some soul into the ever-growing world of EVs, the Ford Capri is exactly how the iconic sports coupe would have evolved.
Sharing it's platform with the Ford Explorer, but offering a sportier silhouette. The Capri is takes styling cues from the classic Capri and reinvents it in a crossover-coupe SUV style with a nippy electric powertrain and modern advanced safety features packed with all the technology you would expect to find in a modern Ford.
Design and Practicality
Once a sports coupe, the all-new fully-electric Capri is now a coupe-crossover SUV, bursting with cutting-edge style and swagger.
Eye-popping colours include Vivid Yellow and Blue My Mind which help the new profile stand out, which is further helped by its sleek and soulful body which also enhances aerodynamic performance.
Sitting as standard on 19-inch alloy wheels, 20-inch wheels come on the Capri Premium, but both finish off the Capri's wow factor. Distinct head and tailights, and gloss black details help bring the legend back, in a futuristic style.
And, being an SUV, space and practicality is superb, with a massive 572-litre boot, along with a 17-litre MegaConsole beneath the front armrest, as well as My Private Locker secret storage, too.
Technology and Safety
Being fully-electric and offering decent performance and economy is one thing, but the new Capri also is brimmed full of tech on the interior, too.
That's because there's a 5.0-inch digital instrument cluster showcasing all the need-to-know information, along with an adjustable 14.6-inch SYNC Move centre infotainment display with voice activation, Connected Navigation and even wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety tech is also just as impressive, as Capri gets a Blind Spot Information System, along with Cross Traffic Alert with Active Braking, front and rear parking sensors, intelligent adaptive cruise control and a rearview camera all as standard too, with optional add-ons like head-up display, Active Park Assist and a 360-degree camera all available, too.
Engines and Performance
The Ford Capri offers two drivetrain options, rear wheel drive or all wheel drive. The rear wheel drive power delivery boasts an increased range of 390 miles on higher range variants in comparison to the all wheel drive version which can reach 346 miles on a single charge.
Both variants offer impressive performance figures with the All-wheel drive being the best performing in the range, with 335bhp and a 0 to 62 time of 5.3 seconds. The rear-wheel drive is just slower with a still exciting 6.4 seconds.
For those not as interested in performance the standard range rear wheel drive version can still reach 62mph in 9.9 seconds.
Charging
At home you can use a wallbox EV charger which offers overnight charging. Home charging takes 7 to 11 hours when using a 7.4kwh wallbox charger, so you can rest assured the battery will be at 100-percent for when you need it.
You can utilise Ford's BlueOval charge network at any one of the over 1 million AC and DC public charging points across europe. The Capri accepts up to 185kw DC ultra-fast charging to reach 80-percent in just 26 minutes.
