Introducing the Dacia Striker
The Striker is a new C-segment crossover from Dacia. It has the height and rugged stance of an SUV, carries the load space of an estate car. And it drives with the efficiency of a saloon. Together, that mix gives it a shape you won't have seen from Dacia before.
There are four electrified powertrains to choose from. The self-charging Hybrid 155 is tuned for town driving and spends much of its time running silently on electric power. The Hybrid 150 4x4 adds four-wheel drive and off-road capability, plus useful towing strength for weekend adventures. A Mild Hybrid-G version is also available, pairing LPG with a 48-volt system to help keep fuel costs down over high mileages.
So, whether you're on the school run, doing the supermarket shop or heading across the country for a spot of surfing, the Striker is built to take it all in its stride, with the flexibility to suit growing families and commuters alike.
Design and Practicality
At 4.62 metres long, the Striker has a sleek, low-slung profile that helps it slip through the air more efficiently than you might expect from an SUV. Robust, unpainted Starkle trim panels and 19-inch wheels give it a tough exterior, while more than 32 percent of the materials used are recycled or drawn from the circular economy.
Step inside and there's room for five, with rear seats that fold independently to suit whatever each new day brings. The large fixed panoramic roof spans 1.2 by 0.8 metres of glass — nearly a square metre of open sky above your head. It floods the cabin with light while blocking 99 percent of UV rays.
The ample boot is where the Striker really comes into its own. There's up to 600 litres of space, a three-part modular floor for splitting up your load and a no-hassle hands-free electric tailgate — a first for Dacia.
Technology and Safety
Behind the wheel, the Striker's LightVisio display almost seems to float in front of the driver, showing your speed and other driving details clearly without adding glare or eye strain. A central touchscreen looks after navigation and lets you prioritise the information you want to see most, rather than digging your way through menus to find it.
The Striker also gets Dacia's YouClip system, with up to nine mounting points around the cabin and boot so phones, cups and everyday gadgets always have somewhere secure to sit. There's even a neat little slot for a charging cable and a built-in ice scraper tucked into the dashboard, ready for those frosty mornings.
On the safety side, the Striker comes with a multiview camera for tight parking spots, adaptive cruise control for long journeys, an occupant safe exit alert and rear automatic emergency braking. A broader package of driver-assistance systems adds further peace of mind.
Engines and Performance
The Hybrid 155 is a self-charging system with nothing to plug in, designed to spend as much time as possible running around town on electric power. Dacia says it can cover up to 80 percent of urban driving in electric mode, with CO2 emissions below 100g/km.
The Hybrid 150 4x4 takes a different approach, using its electrified power to back up strong off-road ability and confidence beyond the tarmac. Sitting alongside it is the Mild Hybrid-G, which runs on LPG backed by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, aimed at anyone who covers higher mileages and keeps a keen eye on fuel costs.
Whichever version you choose, the Striker's drag coefficient of 0.29 makes it sleeker through the air than plenty of regular hatchbacks. Its kerb weight sits at around 1,400kg. Together, these figures point to a car built with efficiency very much in mind.
