Sold between 2013 and 2018, the Citroën C4 Picasso proved MPVs didn't have to be dull and boring.
The MPV is hard to differentiate as many are simply boxy people movers and are more about practicality than looks. However, the stylish folk at Citroën don't really do plain and boring, with cutting-edge flair very much the main focus of recent models in the Citroën range.

Engines and Driving Experience
Both petrol and diesel engine choices are available with the C4 Picasso. These come in the form of a 1.2-litre petrol engine with either 108bhp or 129bhp, or a 1.6-litre version with either 153bhp or 160bhp.
Diesel versions come in shape of a 1.6-litre with either 112bhp, 118bhp or 147bhp, and as expected are the most efficient choices with up to 74mpg possible. The petrol engines can still return over 40mpg, however.
As for the driving experience, Citroën made sure the C4 Picasso boasted high comfort levels, with plush seats and strong refinement ensuring a quiet ride at motorway speeds. Enhanced suspension also means the C4 Picasso offers less body-roll than that of a similar MPV.
Practicality and Running Costs
As expected from a multi-purpose vehicle, the Citroën C4 Picasso offers plenty of practicality. Unlike most family-oriented vehicles, the rear features three individual seats. These are also complemented by three ISOFIX child seat mounts.
A large boot, offering 537 litres of space is also on hand. This can be increased to 630 litres if you slide the rear bench forward. You can also fold the rear seats altogether, giving a van-like 1,851 litres of load space.

Interior, Technology and Safety
To say the C4 Aircross came about in 2013, the interior is still very futuristic. It's modern too, thanks to a central digital infotainment screen, and space-ship like 12-inch instrument cluster - which is also digital, and sits on top of the dashboard, in a centralised position.
Technology is also decent with most models featuring keyless entry, dual zone climate control, DAB, rear parking sensors and cruise control.
And as for safety, which is a high priority on a family car, well, that's been taken care of too, thanks to a full five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. This is due to including impressive safety kit such as blind spot monitoring, radar-guided cruise control and 'Intelligent Beam Lights' featuring throughout the model range.
Is the Citroën C4 Picasso right for me?
As stated previously, MPVs are not renowned for their stunning looks, but at least Citroën added flair and space-age appeal to its C4 Picasso. This, of course, makes it stand out in an otherwise plain selection.
Competition comes in the form of the Ford C-MAX, which it could be argued is more of a safe bet in the looks department, whilst the Renault Scenic simply can't compete in the looks, or interior ambiance departments.
