Introducing the Citroën Relay

The Citroën Relay van is the largest vehicle in the Citroën commercial range, offering gigantic payloads and tremendous amounts of load volume for those that need to move large, heavy cargo.

Aside from an excellent carrying capacity, the Relay's main attributes are its robustness, dynamism and low long-term cost of ownership. This is thanks to powerful, economical and reliable drivetrains that have been tried and tested by thousands of business customers across the UK and the rest of Europe.

Available in many different configurations including Panel Van, Window Van and Crew Van depending on your business' needs, the Relay is a flexible and adaptable commercial vehicle that you can rely on. It's also available as part of Citroën's Ready to Run conversion range.

Payload and Capacity

Citroen Relay, Exterior, Doors Open

Offering a substantial payload of up to 1,870kg, the Relay can handle pretty much anything that you can throw at it from a weight point of view.

Size wise, there's four lengths and three different heights so you'll likely find it easy to specify the right size vehicle for your needs. You can also choose from three versions, which are adapted to different trades and uses.

Load volumes range in capacity depending on which model you go for, from a handy 8 cubic metres in the L1H1 version right up to 17 cubic metres in the longest and tallest L4H3 model.

The Relay's capabilities don't stop at its Panel, Window and Crew Van versions. The Citroën Ready to Run range features work-ready Dropside, Luton and Tipper variants that have been converted even before you pick up the keys.

Technology and Safety

Citroen Relay, Interior

Technology, comfort and safety are further strong suits of the Relay, despite its no-nonsense commercial appeal. With this in mind, Citroën have designed the interior of the Relay in line with their Advanced Comfort® programme.

This means you get a spacious cabin and comfy seats, plus lots of clever storage compartments as well as a refrigerated glove box and cup holders. Some versions even include a built-in shelf in the front seat that can act as a handy desk, as well as a central dash-mounted clipboard.

The French manufacturer hasn't skipped on the tech either, with all versions coming with DAB radio and Bluetooth phone connectivity as standard. Entry-level 'X' versions even get features such as cruise control, alarm and deadlocks.

Safety features include a driver's airbag, ESP and traction control.

Economy and Performance

Citroen Relay, Exterior, Rear

Both turbo diesel engines are tough, durable and efficient. They are also compatible with Euro 6 emissions regulations, meeting the latest standards required to enter low emissions zones.

Choose between 118bhp or 138bhp, both are mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and feature Stop&Start technology. The generous amounts of torque available mean that the Relay can tow up to 2,500kg.

Expect fuel consumption figures to be around 25.5mpg with the more powerful engine or around 26.6mpg with the 118bhp version, on a combined WLTP cycle.

You can also go for the ë-Relay, which is a fully electric version of the large van and it's available with the choice of two battery sizes offering 73 or 139 miles of all-electric range.
