Introducing the Citroën Berlingo
Sometimes the aim isn't to go as fast as you possibly can, or make an extravagant entrance upon arrival. Instead, it's about enjoying the endless adventures and memories you can share with family and friends.
Ultimately, that's where the innovative Citroën Berlingo comes into the picture. Offering amazing levels of modularity and practicality, this is one MPV that is guaranteed to impress on a daily basis.
A number of safety features and driver aids add to the Berlingo's impressive design, and have all been implemented to ensure your journey is stress-free. Choose from Citroën's petrol and diesel engines, as well as fully-electric powertrains for the most eco-friendly means of travel.
Design and Practicality
The Berlingo is available in two different bodystyles; the smallest is called 'M' and the larger model is called 'XL'. If you only need five seats, then the shorter wheelbase is the one for you. However, the XL is a must-have if you require seven seats on a regular basis.
Even if you don't need the extra seats in the XL, you'll benefit from a massive 4,000 litres of storage space with the rear seats folded completely flat (1,050 litres with the third row seats up). The 'M' bodystyle still gives you 3,500 litres of space to play with once the seats are folded flat (775 litres with the seats up); hardly cramped.
Access to the rear is easy thanks to the two sliding doors, now featuring shiny black handles across all versions. Inside, you will find the lush seats have benefited from the Citroën Advanced Comfort® programme, with Fine Grey dashboard and door trims in MAX versions enhancing the sophisticated interior design.
Technology and Safety
The Berlingo isn't just a basic leisure vehicle, because it comes loaded with a host of innovative technologies that have been designed to make everyday life more convenient.
The 8.0-inch touchscreen that sits at the top of the centre console has now been replaced with a 10-inch high-definition touchscreen, which offers wireless smartphone replication through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The updated infotainment system also includes wireless phone charging, and users can access connected 3D navigation, Citroën Connect Nav, and Citroën Connect Box (car breakdown assistance).
A number of safety features can also be found in the Berlingo, which have been carefully engineered to give you peace of mind. They include:
- Lane Departure Warning System
- Driver Attention Alert
- Blind Spot Monitoring System
- Extended Traffic Sign Recognition
- Active Lane Keeping Assistance
- Active Safety Brake with Top Rear Vision
Engines and Performance
The Berlingo offers a versatile range of powertrains, catering to a variety of driving needs. Whether you prefer traditional combustion engines or are ready to embrace the future with a fully electric option, there’s a Berlingo for everyone.
For those who favor conventional engines, the Berlingo provides:
- PureTech Petrol: Available with a smooth 6-speed manual gearbox, delivering reliable performance and efficiency.
- BlueHDi Diesel: Paired with an advanced 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard, offering refined power delivery and excellent fuel economy for longer trips.
These engines are designed to deliver a smooth, stress-free driving experience, prioritising comfort and practicality without compromising on capability.
Introducing the all-electric Citroën ë-Berlingo
The fully-electric version of the Berlingo sacrifices very little when it comes to comfort and performance, with a roomy 7-seat option and smooth driving dynamics.
Range and Performance
The Citroën ë-Berlingo has a fully electric driving range of up to 213 miles (WLTP combined cycle), thanks to a new 52kWh battery.
Drivers can enjoy the instant acceleration provided by the 100kW 134bhp electric motor, and range can be optimised by using the 'B' mode button on the central console, which increases the amount of energy recovered by the regenerative braking system.
Charging
The standard-fit 7.4kW on-board charger can complete a full charge in 7.5 hours, while the optional 11kW charger brings the time down to just five hours when using an appropriate wallbox.
Out and about, 100kW rapid charging capability means you can take advantage of rapid chargers at motorway service stations, fully recharging the battery in just 30 minutes.
For added convenience, the ë-Berlingo also integrates the new e-ROUTES app, which acts as a personal assistant to help plan your journeys and manage charging stops along the way.
