The Suzuki Jimny is a fan-favourite 4x4 that's designed to be a through and through off-roader. It was removed from sale as a passenger vehicle in the UK in 2020, but you can still find excellent examples on the used car market.
You'll only have one choice of engine in the latest generation of Jimny; a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 100bhp and fuel economy figures of circa 35mpg combined. On the road, it doesn't offer the most dynamic or comfortable ride, but off road it really excels and can outclass larger and more expensive rivals on the muddy stuff.
The interior is made up of hard plastics that are designed to be easily wiped down ready for your next off-road adventure. There's little in the form of luxury, but satellite navigation and a touchscreen infotainment system can be found on higher specifications. Four average-sized adults should fit into the Jimny, but it won't be the most comfortable of journeys due to the Jimny's dinky dimensions.
Running a Jimny won't cost too much - insurance resides within groups 13 and 14 (out of 50) - low cost servicing and maintenance can also be carried out at any Evans Halshaw dealership. Very few can match the Jimny's serious off-road capabilities and loveable character but rivals include the cost-effective Dacia Duster and larger, yet similarly styled, Jeep Wrangler.
