Introducing the Ford Tourneo Connect
If you are looking for a vehicle that is great at moving people around as well as carrying the most difficult of loads, the Tourneo Connect could be the answer.
It comes with an excellent safety rating from Euro NCAP and the Grand Tourneo Connect is able to carry 7 occupants, thanks to a third row of seats in the back. This vehicle can also operate like a van. The boot capacity is huge as standard, but fold down the rear seats and you really do have a van-like cargo space in which to load your cargo.
The diesel-powered Ford Tourneo Connect is available with both manual and automatic gearbox options.
Design and Practicality
The Tourneo Connect has been designed with a simple philosophy: maximum interior space. Its boxy proportions mean that it achieves this goal, but Ford's designers have worked wonders to transform what is essentially a van into a good-looking passenger vehicle.
Space is plentiful. Both front and rear occupants have more than ample leg and headroom, so much so that the Tourneo Connect can carry five adults on long journeys in complete comfort.
Without the two extra rear seats that are fitted to the Grand Tourneo Connect, the boot space is two-and-a-half times larger than the one you'll find in the Focus hatchback, with a total capacity of more than 1,000 litres - a figure which doubles again if you fold down the rear seats.
Interior and Technology
Inside the Tourneo Connect you'll find all of the switchgear that will be familiar to those who already own a modern Ford. It's all very well laid out, with all of the controls exactly where you would expect them to be. The interior materials are designed with comfort and durability and mind - making it ideal for transporting families.
In terms of technology, the Tourneo Connect is actually very well equipped as standard. All models are fitted with air conditioning, Bluetooth phone connectivity, cruise control and electric windows in both the front and rear.
Safety features include front and rear airbags, as well as lane keeping assist, traction control and an electronic stability program. Blind spot monitoring is available as an option.
Economy and Performance
Ford make some of the best engines in the world, and the Tourneo Connect benefits from one of their most popular units.
The 1.5-litre EcoBlue turbocharged diesel engine is the sole engine choice, although you do have the option of both 99bhp and 118bhp versions depending on whether you'd like a bit of extra power.
Ford's excellent six-speed manual transmission is fitted as standard, although you can spring extra for a silky smooth and efficient 8-speed automatic if you prefer to only use two pedals.
Test Drive the Ford Tourneo Connect
Overall, the fantastically practical Tourneo Connect is an excellent, durable and spacious family car, that doesn't cost a lot to run. It's a great value option for those who need extra space but without the added premium that other large vehicles come with.
