Design and Practicality
DS Automobiles have paid homage to the original DS, which was released in 1955, by using its styling to inspire the modern silhouette seen in the DS 9 saloon.
The French car maker have implemented a new architecture underneath, which has resulted in a longer wheelbase that hasn't been used in a saloon before; the outcome of this decision is extra legroom inside.
Inside is a raft of carefully chosen materials that ensure every journey is an experience that can't be found elsewhere. Acoustic ambiance is taken to a new level entirely because of features such as the laminated acoustic glass that's been used.
Furthermore, the cabin has been enhanced by a specially engineered FOCAL Electra sound system, which features 14 optimally positioned speakers.
Technology and Safety
DS Automobiles haven't been shy when it comes to the technology they have fitted to the DS 9. For example, DS have implemented a clever suspension system that uses a series of sensors, as well as a camera, to scan the road and then adjust the damping on each corner of the car to maximise comfort and grip.
With the introduction of DS SMART ACCESS, you can forget about your car key and simply use your smartphone. It's also possible to access and remotely start the vehicle; you can even give this control to five other smartphones.
A number of driver aids and safety features have been included:

Economy and Performance
A sole 222bhp PureTech petrol engine can be selected, which is mated to an automatic transmission. Accelerating from 0 to 60 mph takes just 8.1 seconds and you can expect a decent fuel consumption figure of around 40mpg (WLTP).
You can also choose from two plug-in hybrid options with the DS 9 E-TENSE, which offer a blend of greater power and better efficiency.
The two options consist of a 222bhp version and a more potent 355bhp variant with an intelligent 4-wheel drive system that will join the line-up at a later date.
The on-board batteries have been designed to help with acceleration up to 83mph and they even allow the driver to travel purely on electric power, meaning no CO2 emissions are being produced whilst in all-electric mode.
