Design and Practicality
The Deepal S05 cuts a clean, confident shape on the road. Its sleek lines, frameless doors and flush door handles give it the feel of a more expensive car, while the aerodynamic design actively contributes to real-world range.
Inside, the aircraft-inspired cockpit is spacious and logically laid out, featuring vegan leather heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic roof and a full-recline zero-gravity passenger seat – ideal for long motorway runs, letting them stretch out fully rather than sit upright for hours.
Practicality is a strength, too. The rear boot offers 492 litres of luggage space – enough for a large suitcase, a pushchair and the weekly shop. Dominating the dashboard is a 15.4-inch 2.5K rotating touchscreen for smooth performance. The rear-wheel drive model delivers 268bhp and 214lb ft of torque, sprinting from 0 to 62mph in 7.5 seconds. Prefer more power? The front motor in the all-wheel-drive version boosts total output to 429bhp and 370lb ft of torque, and it reaches 62mph in just 5.5 seconds. Both models are limited to a top speed of 112mph.
On the road, the Deepal S05 feels quiet and refined. The electric motor delivers smooth, immediate power, making driving around town a pleasure and motorway driving relaxed. The smoothness of an electric powertrain also reduces driver tiredness on longer journeys by eliminating gear changes and engine vibration. Charging
With a WLTP-certified range of up to 303 miles in rear-wheel drive form (and 278 miles in AWD), the Deepal S05 is well-suited to both daily use and longer journeys, and supports DC rapid charging at up to 200kW. This means the Deepal S05 can theoretically add around 100 miles of range in under ten minutes – quicker than most motorway service station coffee queues.
For home charging, the Deepal S05 supports 11kW AC charging using a home wallbox, taking around 7.5 hours for a full charge from empty, making overnight charging the simple option for most owners. The V2L function effectively turns the Deepal S05 into a mobile power source capable of running a kettle, a laptop, and a television at the same time – making it far more useful on a camping trip than a full flask. Changan's connected technology also helps you plan charging stops and monitor battery level through the onboard infotainment system.
