Introducing the new MGS6 EV
The MGS6 EV builds on this year's MGS5 EV. It retains all the elements you love but offers more space all-round - as well as a significantly larger battery and WLTP range, letting you cruise for over 300 miles on a single charge.
This spectacular EV falls firmly into the “family SUV” category. It knows what it is and does it incredibly well. You’ll love its roomy cabin and generous equipment - not to mention its super-affordable pricing. It’s proof that going electric doesn’t compromise on value.
Design and Practicality
The MGS6 EV doesn’t miss out on MG’s reputation for sporty design, even in the family SUV format. The MG Cyberster comes to mind when you first see the MGS6’s split-light front and sleek full-width rear light bar.
In terms of size, the MGS6 EV has plenty. It sports a bold, long design, coming in at 4,708mm long.
This roominess carries over to the interior, with a generous cabin and impressive head and legroom front and back.
Inside, you’ll find gorgeous soft-touch upholstery, along with heated rear seats and a panoramic skylight on Trophy models. Miss the feel of actual buttons in your car? Enjoy a mixture of both physical and touchscreen controls.
Don’t forget about the massive 674-litre boot, too (1,910 with the rear seats folded). All this adds up to an incredibly user-friendly driving experience - perfect for everyday commutes and weekends away with the kids.
Technology and Safety
This comes down to two main things. One, its exterior -the body uses a high proportion of high-strength steel and a total of seven airbags give you extra peace-of-mind.
Then, there’s technology. The MGS6 EV is made with safety in mind and won't let you down when it comes to specs. Top-of-the-range Heads-Up Display (HUD) is combined with a full suite of driver-assist features like Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Blind-Spot Detection. These all help drivers stay alert on the road.
Plus, as you’d expect, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on a 12.8-inch central touchscreen are there to keep you entertained.
Range and Performance
As always, you may find that range slightly lower in varying real-world conditions. Expect an average 250-300 mile range. Bear in mind that still puts the MGS6 EV well up there when it comes to electric SUVs of this class.
The driving dynamics are surprisingly sleek. The AWD dual-motor variant in particular provides everything you need for a dependable long-haul or motorway trip, even in less-than-ideal conditions.
Braking is also noteworthy. Some tests indicate the MGS6 EV can stop from 62 mph to zero in around 36 metres.
Charging
If you want to charge the 77 kWh battery overnight from your home wallbox (around 7 kW AC), expect it to take around 11-12 hours. However, this drops significantly with DC public rapid charging. Many tests show you can go from 10% to 80% in as little as 38 minutes.
This strong charging capability makes the MGS6 EV perfect for just about anything from the everyday commute to the long-distance holiday.
