Introducing the new 2022 Ford Fiesta
The Fiesta has become a household name and its new update carves a bright future for the ever-popular small hatchback in a number of ways.
Each variant of Fiesta now comes with unique styling and an extended range of available interior and exterior finishes, adding further differentiation across the line-up. Drivers benefit from new technology within the cabin, providing a connected driving experience to make journeys easier and more comfortable.
Intelligent EcoBoost mild-hybrid powertrains means better fuel efficiency whilst allowing the driver to enjoy the Fiesta's acclaimed driving dynamics. The popular EcoBoost petrol engines also make a return within the new Fiesta.
Design and Practicality
The usual sleek styling of the Fiesta just got better. A number of updates to the exterior have been implemented to give a more prominent look whilst out on the road. Each variant now comes with its very own styling, meaning customers can now 'choose a version that reflects their own outlook on life'.
For example, the Ford Performance inspired ST-Line offers sportier exterior styling compared to the SUV-inspired Active, which gives a more robust and adventurous persona. For maximum elegance, available Vignale packs offer additional extras such as premium Sensico seat materials to increase exclusivity.
Built upon the same architecture as the larger Ford Puma, the new Fiesta comes as a 3 or 5-door variant designed to increase practicality, comfort and convenience.
Technology and Safety
The new Fiesta has also taken a significant stride when it comes to technology. Drivers are greeted by a 12.3-inch fully-configurable digital instrument cluster, allowing personalisation to the highest degree. The cluster adapts to suit the drive, with uniquely-themed displays appearing when one of three driving modes are selected (Sport, Normal or Eco).
A connected Ford ownership experience can also be enjoyed thanks to FordPass and SYNC3 technologies providing regular updates on the vehicle's status and changing road conditions.
Further state-of-the-art technology can be found within the new Fiesta, such as adaptive cruise control, active park assist and wrong way alert to aid the driver and ensure safety, in collaboration with a number of other features, such as:
- Lane-keeping aid
- Adaptable matrix LED headlights
- Speed sign recognition
- Blind Spot Information System (BLIS)
Engines and Performance
'Powertrains for today and tomorrow' is how Ford describe the range of engines on the new Fiesta, which are available in various mild-hybrid and petrol configurations designed to enhance fuel efficiency whilst boosting fun factor.
Plug-in hybrid models come with a 123bhp or 152bhp power output capable of achieving a minimum of 48mpg on the road. A belt-driven integrated starter/generator (BISG) allows for energy that is usually lost whilst braking and coasting to charge the 48-volt lithium-ion battery pack, maximising fuel economy and reducing running costs.
The renowned EcoBoost petrol engine comes with 98bhp and can deliver a minimum of 45mpg, making it uber-efficient also. A six-speed manual gearbox is available on all engine variants, but a seven-speed automatic powershift gearbox can be enjoyed on the 123bhp mild-hybrid.
