Essentially, this is effectively a regular Defender with the rear seats removed, but sometimes the simplest ideas are the best ones. Only the Defender Hard Top offers so much more.

Economy is stated by Land Rover at just under 30mpg for both versions which have a choice of multiple diesel engines with varying power.
Both 90 Hard Top and 110 Hard Top versions are excellent when it comes to towing capabilities, with a 3,500kg volume with a braked trailer and 750kg possibility with an unbraked trailer.
As for overall performance, the Defender 90 Hard Top and 110 Hard Top both drive like a car/SUV, and so feel more refined than your average panel van. They perform brilliantly on road as well as off it, as with all Land Rover models.

Interior, Technology, and Safety
The interior of the Defender Had Top mimics the original SUV, meaning it's a nice place to spend time.
You get a fully-digital instrument cluster when choosing SE trim and above (part-digital in base model), along with a crisp central infotainment screen. The cabin is big and there's lots of useful cubby space, and you get a high-quality feel throughout.
Equipment is excellent, with 3D cameras and Pivi Pro infotainment as standard on the 10-inch central touchscreen.
As for safety, all Defender Hard Top models come with electronic stability control, 3D Surround Camera, Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist and Autonomous Emergency Braking.
