Rewind to 1988: Peugeot 405

In this week's addition of Rewind, we go back 25 years to 1988. In a year that included GB & NI unsurprisingly failing at a Winter Olympics, and British Rail jacking their rail prices up by 21%; the Peugeot 405 stamped its status as one of the top family saloon cars by claiming the European Car of the Year award. The 405 was one of the bestselling Peugeot models throughout the late 80's and 90's. In fact the model is that popular, it's still being manufactured under licence outside of France.

Most commonly supplied with a 1.6L or 1.9L engine, this French fancy was applauded for its practicality, economical fuel consumption, and attractive design. Still seen on the roads in the UK, we are likely to still see them for a few years to come.
