Car Café Bedford: Modern Classics & Performance

30th Jul 2018

Ford Carousel
Born in Nottingham, the popular Car Cafe car meet has grown to include many other great locations throughout the UK.

he 28th of July 2018 saw Car Cafe take place for the first time in Bedford, at the Evans Halshaw FordStore. The petrolhead vibe was set before the meet had even started due to the showroom showcasing some special cars from the Ford brand. Enthusiast customers, Ford UK and Evans Halshaw had provided a number of cool 'old school' and upcoming Ford models to complement the Car Cafe meet.

One of which was the brand-new Fiesta ST. It is sure to be a petrolhead's favourite - just like the outgoing version, and it looked great alongside a prototype version of the brand-new Ford GT. These new models looked brilliant, especially next to some of Ford's back catalogue of performance icons which had been put on show by customers and enthusiasts.

These happened to include an immaculate Mk3 Fiesta XR2i finished in white, along with a Ford Crown Victoria - complete with American-spec police lights in the grille. The meet was set, and the retro vibe of the showroom continued outside too, along with a splash of modern performance cars for good measure.

Retro/Modern Classics

One of the first cars at the meet was an immaculate example of one of the most iconic Japanese cars ever - the Nissan Skyline. Only it happened to be the much sought-after R34 GT-R, finished in arguably the best colour of Bayside Blue.

Later on, yet another legendary GT-R turned up, the previous R33 model which happened to be parked next to its main competition back in the day - the legendary Toyota Supra.

It wasn't just old school Japanese cars that captured the attention of petrolheads on the day. Those guys in Munich know how to make a performance car, and back in the eighties BMW launched the E30 M3 which was an instant hit thanks to its iconic M car performance and pinpoint driving experience it gave. The meet was delighted to welcome an immaculate red example, that was a credit to its owner.

Elsewhere a Mk2 Escort and Renault 5 GT Turbo added to the eclectic mix of well-kept retro rides.

Modern Performance Machinery

The beauty of Car Cafe is that it attracts enthusiast models from many generations. The balance is always a sight to behold and the meet was therefore joined by some of the latest machinery from popular manufacturers.

Coincidence or not, blue seemed to be the petrolhead's choice of colour. Therefore, parked alongside each other making for the perfect photo opportunity was a stunning Long Beach Blue BMW M2, an Audi R8 V10 and Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake - all in different shades of blue.

Elsewhere an Ariel Atom looked menacing thanks to its bespoke looks, the perfect car for the glorious weather as you don't really get any protection from the elements, meaning you're going to be keeping cool, as well as looking the part too!

We cannot wait to see what's in store for the next Car Cafe meets, and we're pretty certain this won't be the last Car Cafe to take place in Bedford.
