All You Need to Know About the Hyundai i30 N Hatch

The hot hatchback is loved by many, and rightly so. With increased performance and more sports focused styling over a regular manufacturers hatchback, perfectly combined with renowned practicality, the humble hot hatchback has been a favourite on UK roads since the late eighties.
In an age where it may seem like the hot hatch is falling out of favour with some manufacturers; due to the rise of the electric car, and the growing SUV trend, it's nice to see Hyundai still have it high on their agenda to create a hot version of their popular i30.
As a basis, the i30 N has a solid foundation thanks to Albert Biermann, the i30 N project leader. Biermann has come from BMW, the M division no less, so knows a thing or two about making exciting performance cars. His experience has been sprinkled over this i30 N giving it a tantalising 247bhp, or 271bhp if you opt for the enhanced 'Performance Package'.
Power is distributed via a 6-speed manual gearbox (great news for purists) and put down on the road via front-wheel drive. The performance package gets an electronically controlled limited slip differential too. 18-inch alloy wheels come as standard, wrapped in tyres from tyre specialists, Michelin. Whereas the performance package upgrade features 19-inch alloys, wrapped in bespoke Pirelli P Zero tyres which have been developed solely for the i30 N.
Being a hot hatchback performance is always the main focus. Keen drivers will be pleased to know that thanks to plenty of power on offer, the i30 N can crack 60mph in just 6.4 seconds, which is reduced to 6.1 with the performance package. The i30 N will carry on all the way to 155mph too.
It's all well as good looking quick on paper, but in the performance world it's important that the car handles and offers an exciting driving experience. Hyundai ensured this by completing hours and hours of testing and developing the i30 N at the world famous Nurburgring, ensuring the N has a beautifully sporty chassis with adaptive dampers ensuring comfort along with a firmer ride, perfect for acute drivers.
Inside, the i30 N gives a lovely premium feel, with leather sports seats and crisp clear dials and displays. The dash houses a striking touchscreen where by you can switch between the cars driving modes, and can also display geeky performance statistics - if that's your thing!
